WVON looks outside Chicago in shakeup of program leadership

From Robert Feder at the Sun-Times:

"WVON-AM (1690) is shaking up its program department", forcing out Jerry Riles.

"Melody Spann Cooper, general manager of WVON and president of owner Midway Broadcasting, said a replacement, likely to come from outside of the market, could be named by the end of the week.

"In order to be more competitive in our niche, we have to bring in somebody who's cut their teeth in a large market," she said."
