WVOS PLAYING CHRISTMAS IN JUNE?

3PM yesterday afternoon WVOS Liberty/Monticello played "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" by Dolly Parton! Does that one really qualify as one of the Greatest Hits Of All Time? Geezzz, maybe their playlist is just a wee bit too deep!!

Hell, when I worked for them 34 years ago, we literally switched formats every couple of hours. it was block-program HQ. Rudolph probably qualifies as something over there!

Considering the fact that the Catskills are literally a short drive up the road from NYC and a short drive down from Albany, it's astounding how dismal the local radio landscape there is. All of the local stations sound bush league! As with the recent Rudolph incedent, they actually provide quite amusing entertainment.

Radio sounds the same anywhere. NYC isn't any better. Tons of voice tracking going around and boring, lame stations.

Gee, I don't know; I think we work pretty hard to provide a strong, unique product. I believe for the most part we succeed. A computer glitch airing a seasonal song isn't exactly a system-wide collapse. When I've heard such events elsewhere, I've just smiled at the juxtaposition. But then, I've always had a taste for the absurd...

I know, one man's opinion
