WVOX 1460 AM Very Low Audio At Night

This station in New Rochelle NY carries Music of Your Life during the overnight hours. When the music plays, the volume level is extremely low. But sweepers and spots air at normal levels. This has been going on for months, so it is improbable that the staff is unaware of this. It's difficult enough to receive WVOX at night. The low audio when the music plays combined with the usual night time hash makes it seem the station is off the air during the late hours.
Can anyone venture a guess why this is happening, and the reason the station has not fixed this?

The 'sweepers and spots are likely a seperate input than the satellite feed of Music of Your Life, so the volume is set separately. These stations on autopilot programing almost certainly have nobody there, therefore as you stated they are unaware of the problem. You would think over a period of months somebody would check, although their nighttime coverage area is quite small.
I suggest you contact the station and let the know about the problem. I am well outside their service area.

I just saw this short thread, but had noticed the same thing months ago that Barry did. It’s no longer a problem on 1460 WVOX. The MOYL program level matches the local jingle insertions.

BUT…now that the 98.3 translator has fired up, this level imbalance is happening in crystal clear FM, on W252DX! Local jingles LOUD; MOYL program about 20dB down. Quite jarring.

As for contacting them, I had emailed Hudson-Westchester / Whitney Radio (owner/licensee of WVOX, WVIP(FM) and W252DX, among others) David O’Shaughnessy months ago about some pirate activity I thought he should be aware of on 102.1. The pirate, in the Yonkers area, was duplicating the Caribbean programming carried on 93.5 WVIP FM. I couldn’t figure why a pirate would bother duplicating a licensed FM‘s main program, within that FM’s primary coverage footprint. Never got the courtesy of a reply.
