WVRR: Current Status

It isn't coming to Keene. WVRR is changing frequency and changing its COL to Westminster VT, probably from the WEKW/WKNE et al site.

It won't even come close to city-grade in Keene. Look at WZSH in Bellows Falls or the station in Walpole (the calls escape me)-they're barely audible in Keene.
Since WVRR's new stick will be in Walpole, there's just too much distance from Keene-it might be listenable on a car radio, but that's about it.

We are now celebrating 6 months of a hick-uping rock 101... dead 7
seriously what does it take to fix a transmitter that gets 5 seconds of dead air about once an hour!

That's not really an apples to apples comparison though.
WZLF (what used to be WZSH) has their transmitter way up behind a maple farm almost east of Claremont in , and very east of Bellows Falls up in Alstead. WPLY "Walpole" has their transmitter up on Mt Kilburne also in Bellows Falls. The app for WVRR places it on the NHPTV tower on Derry Hill (co located with WKNE-FM). Expect the signal to be similar to WEVN's within the Keene limits, and they both have similar facilities, and both will be city grade within the Keene city limits. (WEVN 90.7 is at 1500w @ 286meters, WVRR-CP 101.9 is at 1050watts @ 236 meters).

I wasn't aware that WEVN's stick was in Walpole. Thanks for the clarification.
Re: WZLF, how far is their TX (still at Bascomb's?) from Claremont or Keene? IIRC, the signal stinks in both places.

Don't forget that WPLY has a ridiculous low power. They are barely a class A. I know of translators with a better signal.

WZLF has a WEIRD signal to say the least. Due west you can hear it almost to Ludlow, VT.
But your right , it's hit or miss in Keene. I don't go to Claremont often enough, so Ill take your word on that.
I know it is in the back yard of the maple farm. I took pictures here.
The distance from the WZLF tower to the WZBK tower in Keene is 19miles , and from the ZLF tower to the WTSV
tower in Claremont is 11 miles.

??? Not sure why you're measuring to the AM Claremont station... please explain.

I think he was just measuring the distance to WTSV and WZBK's coordinates, since they are relatively close to the center of their cities.

Because NHRadio had asked this
Re: WZLF, how far is their TX (still at Bascomb's?) from Claremont or Keene?
So I answered... and WTSV is located close enough to downtown to count for Claremont.

Anyone heard any rumors as to when Great Eastern will be turning on the transmitters in Keene?

101.9 is on air playing rock. Does this mean 93.5 WTSM will sign on soon with news/talk?

Damn I'm on vaction this week in VA Beach ViA Train for $66 and I must have brought the Weather with me! when I left Friday afternoon for its only 45 degrees down here. WVRR was still rockin and rollin on 101.7 with liners and the 5 seconds of "dead" air" I wonder why no warning.
hows the coverage? It must be kickin ass.Love to know if I will be able to still get em up in white River JCT or Ludlow or hell how's the coverage in Brattleburo to Mt Snow area. Ski seasons not over so If no one else reports I will ;)

Wow...no mention of TOS :)
101.7 is now on the NHPTV tower in Walpole. Brat's coverage should be decent, but WRJ would be weak at best.

Kinda surprised at that. Since they (obviously) put a city-grade signal over the thriving metropolis of Westminster, I'd think Brat should be pretty good. Is there a hill or something that might cause a problem?

Bratt signal has been spotty

As of 5 this morning, no idea if we can get it in Claremont or not - there's still a carrier on 101.7 that's making it impossible to pick up 101.9.
