WVRR Signal Grade in Keene?

I'm surprised that I haven't heard anything on the boards about the WVRR signal coming into Keene. What is the status? Last I knew they had a Construction Permit for a Class A FM Station with a new frequency of 101.9 in Westminster, Vermont.

Would that get a new 'signal grade' signal in Keene? Would the theory be to simulcast what they already have on the signal? Two new signals into Keene.....wouldn't it make since to have a new studio in Keene as well?

If all is written is true, this signal should blast into Keene and beyond from the same tower WEKW-TV and WKNE FM are located on.

10 point bonus if it makes it up here into the NEK-VT :)
101.7 gets blocked out around fairlee - points north on I-91 because of the Canadian station on 101.7.
101.9 I can't wait and see!
any guesses

Up the the Northeast Kingdom? No way. KNE is on the same tower with significantly higher power, and they don't get that far.

One would never know what you can pick up deep in the heart of the Stonehenge and Wheelock dorms high atop the 'Harvard on the Hill" in Lyndonville.. KNE-FM never, with the only, if any, chance of that happening is WPKQ 103.7 is off the air.. 101.9, doubt it with 101.7 in Stowe and 102.1 WCVR in the way, but if you're facing due south and you're up on one the 4th floors of the dorms, stranger things have been known to happen.. Been there, listened to that..

105.1 WTOS and 99.9 WBUZ Make it here loud and clearly on my sangean walkman...
we are no where near legal range of those stations.
104.1 WBCN, and WJMN 94.5 and (94.3 rock in Portland ME) make up here many nights with little DX.

as for sideband interference of 102.1 of which no 102.1 interference does not exist. you only hear 102.3, My modified Carver TX-11 or My sangean HD radio Tuner will kick ass at that. as soon as 101.9 goes on you bet your ass I'll be looking like a dork at LSC exeperementing to see if I get it in the parking lot.

Go get em ! Maybe I'll see you 'dorking it up' on Alumni Weekend soon, just don;t walk yourself into a telephone pole !! ;D

OK "Oz" I do respect your 'dork like' manner in which you want to scour the LSC Campus in search of that ultimate, "I can't believe I'm hearing this station from ______________".. I'll admit I've walked in your shoes, without the modified radio no less.. At my once former great residence in East Burke, slightly down the street from a famous mansion, I installed an Yagi type FM Only antenna high atop the roof of this big house into my Marantz receiver.. It's amazing what I picked up, wherever I aimed the thing.. I still have on cassette a request I had made to WBCN from East Burke.. Ahh the days before internet.. Most of the Portland area stations came in quite strong as well..

I have a nice white cable going out of my room. Unfortunately, I wish I could have diphole antenna on the stonehedge roof. I can image what it was like before the days of cable. where there antenna's on top of the dorms?
btw... this is more of an engineering question but is there a filter you can get to see what a radio will get through the cable line? I've always wanted to try that

I sort of recall having an "T" antenna draped across the window, that was about all I was allowed to have, and that was all I needed. I lived in 2nd floor Crevecouor and faced right at Burke.. WTOS boomed right in, as did the Blimp when it was on the 107.5. Only a few selected dorm rooms had cable at the time, and there was FM on cable that included CHOM and lots of other channels that were replaced from their usual dial positions. Thiis was when WSTJ-AM and WLTN-AM were the only local stations period.

I'll make sure I get to choose a third floor. 1st year Wheelock 3rd flooe it boomed.. 2nd year I could only get the 99.9 WBUZ in rogers now 4th year (same as third I make sure I have a room in Poland Just so I can Get TOS!
as for CHOM I have heard stories of their booming signal. Unfortunately, Magic 97.7 intereres with a weak 600 watts from burke. whats funny though, is you go driving up burke CHOM is so strong that it blocks out WGMT in a few spots up the Toll road
drop me an e-mail (in profile) I'd love to keep in touch

CHOM was very popular, though some of the French content was a little hard to take. If you're ever on your way to Sherbrooke, or even if going over the border for Canadian Beer Runs are still in style. (For those of you who are legal.. disclaimer) You can easily get your CHOM fix once across the Sheffield Heights on 91 since WGMT is very directional going towards Montreal.. I know the "Del-Bar" is long since gone... OK, back to topic.. Maybe on top of the Sheffield Heights on 91, that may your greatest chance to pick up the new 101.9 on the NHPTV Tower..

I really wish we could edit posts more than 1/2 hour.. my spelling can be very terrible...

is there a coverage map for the NHPTV tower?

Check out radio-locator. WKNE is on that tower as well, NH Public radio may be there as well since that signal seems to get right out there. The TV station's call sign is WEKW on analog channel 52.

wow correct me if i am wrong, wpkq 103.7 must really bury wkne 103.7 with Wpkq being on Mt. Washington how did the FCC ever allow the two so close?
I thought only 94.9 was the only Frequency on Mt Wash. however the 101.9 frequency is very open up here in NEK as I have been testing. the next few months could be interesting if WVRR makes the transition.

WKNE does just fine signal-wise where it matters most (Cheshire, Sullivan and Windham counties.) WPKQ doesn't operate with the same amount of "juice" as WHOM.

I remember picking up strong catches of WKNE in the Worcester area without much trouble.

WPKQ is directional towards Keene and towards Montreal. If you're driving down 91, PKQ drops right off around Fairlee.. On 89 in NH both the KNE and PKQ signals battle it out depending where you are.. KNE gets some splatter from WEEI-FM as well to the south and even as close as Mount Monadonock.. WHOM is a grandfathered situation that throws off 50,000 watts off the top of Washington, PKQ's ERP is a lot less. Remember when WPKQ was "The Peak" WZPK ?? You know your trips are uneventful when.....

Yes.....but what does all this mean for WVRR? I mean, this is all speculation....considering nothing has been done on the towers. Does anyone have any ideas on the status?

Way to bring it back to the topic at hand.. WVRR is still on 101.7.
