Tnx RF! Yes, now I remember Winston was there before Forever.
WVSC as I recall was started by Ted Oppergard who, for lack of a better description, started cable tv in the Somerset area. In the early 70's he sold the place to the sales manager, Dick Adams who formed a group with a couple of other guys and stayed as manager. It is surprising that you say the worth is alot less. I remember them being pretty well sold out most of the time. I guess they went to the hot place in a hand basket. I do remember the place being just about spotless and the equipment, although not modern, did work. They had a decent enough signal.
I knew someone who worked there and I trusted her information. In the early 70's she told me Adams paid the office people about $75 per week and paid himself $300. She also told me one of his partners was a local butcher who "smelled like meat" anytime he showed up. I didn't question that! Maybe I should have. Adams may have been Mr. Personality, radiating warmth, joviality and friendliness to clients and potential clients but to those of us who had to deal with him in other ways, he had less personality than the average broken cart machine. One time at a meeting for Steeler affiliates at WTAE where Myron You-Know-Who was to speak, Adams stood silently in the back of the room not saying a word or shaking hands with anyone! But despite this, I never heard any tales of dishonesty or other negatives about him. One question for you...there was a guy there named Don Rodgers who did afternoons. He was OK for the market and one hell of a nice and funny guy. I had heard he died a few years ago. You know anything about him? He was young!
