WVSR Electric 102.7 is a great CHR!

WVSR Electric 102.7 is a great CHR! It wasn't streaming but the DJ let me listen in! I have never even been to WV before. I see in Charleston there is no hot AC or smooth jazz station which sucks. I remember WCIR 103.7 streaming before although it was a long time ago. Has anyone heard of WVOW 101.9? I cannot find a website though sources tell me it's AC.

If you want jazz you're stuck with WV Public Radio around Charleston. There is jazz on the student station at WV State University in Institute (106.7) about 9 miles west, but it's effective range is roughly 2 miles on a windy day.

WVOW may be the Huntington area station that calls itself "The River"? It reaches Charleston and is in that 101-102 mhz. range. Charleston/Huntington are a single market for all but the one-lungers.

Isn't WVSR the old WQBE?

WVOW is at 101.9 from Logan. I am not certain what their format is...everytime I come into Huntington the station is either airing a high school football game or there is some religious program on. "The River" is at 101.5 and is now known as "Bob FM" playing everything from the 60s to 90s. It has a booster providing a city-grade signal in the city of Huntington even though the original station is up the river in Gallipolis OH.

RE: No Hot AC in Charleston, I thought they had V100 and Mix 100.9. Doesn't either of those play Hot AC?

Thanks for the compliments man!! I think you called my show one day and I put you on hold to let you listen. I also think you've called TJ King at night and he's done the same.

It's nice to hear good things on radio forums when most people are quick to be critical or negative. Streaming is in the works. We are ironing out the details as we speak.
