WVTL - Mislabled

The press release says "Amsterdam, N.Y., radio station WVTL. 1570 AM has adopted a new "beautiful music" format." Beautiful Music is a format and there are still a few stations in the country that still exist that feature the format. Beautiful Music is Percy Faith, Mantovani, Andre Kostelanetz and others featuring mostly instrumental music. Even Easy Listening would include some of the above. With that said, WVTL's new format is not beautiful music, although much of what they are playing could certainly be included within the Beautiful Music or Easy Listening format. There is nothing wrong with WVTL's new format and it is certainly an improvement over what is heard elsewhere on the dial, especially for the under served older population and even those younger who are tired of the sameness of the other stations, but they need to find another description for their format.
