WVTN's "Mr. High School Sports" Larry Larson leaving town

610 WTVN's "Mr. High School Sports" Larry Larson is moving to California in August. His wife passed away two years ago and he is moving out there to be close to his daughter.

There is no link online about this yet, but it is happening for sure.

The only person I can think of who would be just as enthusiastic about high school sports is Larry Wolf, a terrific guy and an excellent football coach, currently for Bishop Ready. His personality would be a great fit if WTVN brought in someone to take over when Larry Larson leaves, but I believe Coach Wolf still has many more years to coach football still in him.

I am sure there are others out there who could take over and do a great job, but I do not know them.

It will be sad to see a fine man leave this area, but it is certainly understandable.

There has probably never been a better ambassador for student athletes and high school sports than Larry Larson. And his shoes will likely be very difficult if not impossible to fill.

WCMH-TV (NBC 4) had a nice feature on last night's 11 PM news on Larson. Unfortunately they didn't upload it to their website.

You know when someone like Larry Larson is well respected when Jim Tressel called into the station! Isn't that his first radio or TV thing since resigning/being fired?

Yes,

Like Chuck Douglas said yesterday afternoon.. Jim Tressel has been pretty quit since his resignation from tOSU so Larry Larson must be a important person. Who would have thought this would have happened a few months ago when Larry Larson announced he was leaving town?
