WVUD moves to 6,800 watts

As of noon today, WVUD is now broadcasting at 6,800 watts (up from 1,000). HD Radio for both 91.3 FM and sister station 'The Basement' will be coming in the next few weeks as well. We are curious how far away folks can hear us now (specifically from North Wilmington to the Philly outskirts and south of the C and D canal). If you live on those fringes, we'd love to hear how we hear??

Congrats on the power increase.

Will you Q.S.L.?

With your previous power, did you ever, ever get a report of someone getting you via tropospheric, or e-layer skip?

Haven't really considered QSL at this point..... as for e-skip, I've not gotten any outlandish reports since I've been there, but I'm sure that they have happened over the years. Our engineer would have a better grasp on that than I would. I'll see what I can find out.

We're excited to see where we reach.....the early returns are very encouraging

I'm in Ridley Park working, be heading back to Newark this afternoon. I'll be checking the signal on my way back.

After careful adjustment of the indoor dipole, I have a clean listenable stereo VUD signal in Willow Grove on the Sony XDRF1HD Tuner. The 1,000 watts only got up here under favorable weather conditions, and was only marginally listenable.

If only the Probe 9 were still on the roof.....

Punched up WVUD in the Boeing parking lot. At first, crystal clear. Then faded out as I start to move. It was in and out throughout the drive on I-95. By the time I hit the Delaware border, however, strong and clear.

We did some on air testing last week and it worked....we have a few logistical loose ends to tie up before going full time with it. There are some facility challenges that are slowing us up in getting our HD antenna to the roof the necessary GPS signal. We also need to come up with some solutions for dealing with the new delay for live sports broadcasts. We should have it up in the next few weeks and will continue to troubleshoot and test.
