WVUM Pledge Drive

I have not been much of a WVUM listener since the early 1970's, but I recently heard the first pledge drive on the station that caught my attention. Have I missed previous ones or is this something that comes along with their recent power increase. They are now easily receivable throughout Dade county. I believe they had been supported exclusively by student activities fees.
