WWBA-820 moving news-talk off 820 to 1040....

From our friends in the Detroit market...

Yea, I caught that too. I['m a bit surprised that they're getting away with outright stealing that from CKLW. Perhaps 'The Big 8" is too simple to copyright, but you'd think that anyone in the business would know that it was not only in use in the past, but at a bigtime flamethrower.

Does anything Genesis not do or screw up surprise you?
Nope.

And I think of the great people who use to work there.
Like Mark Larson, Steve Sommers, that woman news host who later was doing p.r. for a "broadcasting" school (can't recall her name).

I like her, but isn't something like a "broadcasting school" so anachronistic?

I mean, it's not like one needs any "training" to be in radio today.

First day of classes: "you will not make a living nor earn any decent salary."
Expect to live hand to mouth. Forget going to decent restaurants or being able to own a home, or even a decent apartment.

You will work overtime, but we won't pay OT.
You will be at our beck and call.

You will worry every moment whether your job is on the block, as there are many lined up to take your place.

Forget going to decent restaurants or being able to own a home, or even a decent apartment.

That's funny. Can Rush Limbaugh afford to eat in nice restaurants or own a home? Does he work in radio? How about Michael Savage?

Somehow some people make a good living in radio. But not if you work at a station nobody listens to.

This is incredulous.

You think the average Joe going to a "broadcasting school" will be the next racist "I called the VP candidate a HO" Limbo or Savage?
How many people in local radio earn even 1/100th of their salaries?

1040 is listed for sale
$1.3 mil
go to Home
click stations for sale/lma
select AM for type of station, then select the state of Florida... results will pop up, go to page 2
Spotted at TVRadioDeals, see the second listing: Tampa Market. Standalone, $975,000.00, Cash-only deal. Also floating a "Will LMA" deal.

I wonder if this is Genesis' WHBO 1040, and they dropped the price.

I don't see Genesis' WIXC 1060 Titusville, but I know, that's been on the block for a while. (Not running classic rock 840 WPGS, anymore :(, by the way.)
