WWBA Questions...

Anyone know/speculate on why the "Michael Smerconish Show" is the sole national show in it's entirety (3 hrs) on WWBA 820 AM?

Or, why the "Michael Savage" show is shortened to only the first 2 hours of his 3 hour show?
And why the "Artie Fletcher Show" is now on 4/5 days, beginning at 8 p.m. EST now???
Smerconish doesn't play south of Baltimore, west of Columbus, Ohio, or north of the Verrazano Bridge, and Fletcher's show, well, it's simply pathetic. Markowsky and Savage are basically carrying the station in my opinion.

The rumor is that the last syndicated hour of Savage is rehashed material and many affiliates don't take it. Haven't personally heard that hour so I can't say with certainty...but it sure sounds plausable.

They do the same thing in Chicago too ( on WIND )

WWBA - brokered radio for the broken station

Artie Fletcher = zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Its too bad, WWBA was stellar when I moved here in mid 2006- the lineup was like an all star team. Unfamiliar with local ratings and popularity, I looked at WFLA as being sort of a hack station but with Rush. Boy, was I mistaken.

Laura Ingraham's show is cut to pieces so they can run a brokered show and infomercials. Since the economy tanked, WWBA has had a strategy of "anything that pays goes" which has undercut any hopes of gaining listeners.

The station's owner originally wanted to be the "Salem of Tampa", but that was undercut when the real Salem came to town. Then he wanted to be the conservative alternative to WFLA, but was kneecapped when 'FLA grabbed his best syndicated star (Hannity) and by his disastrous choice of a replacement -- former TV shopping pitchman Brian Fasulo.

Good luck finding one person in a thousand on any Tampa street corner who knows the name Chris Markowski.

hahah yea Brian Fasulo THIS THING IS ON ! How dreadful was that? Chris Markowski- wont really make it because of his voice, its just not commanding. Remember Malcom? hahah. Some funny stuff. I miss THE GOLD SHOW. How is THE BIG SHOW coming along- are they getting enough restaurant interviews to keep things going?

That appears to be the consensus re: Savage's third hour. What's scary is that hour is drive time on the West Coast, where Savage is based.

Incidentally, Smerconish, based in Philly, now has his noon-3 PM midday show replayed from 4-7 PM there, so I guess things could be worse.

...and another question...
Why is the "Big Show" hosting the Spin Mistress, Shawna Vercher, on Tuesdays and Fridays? Last Tuesday, she "commented" that the Governor of Florida only ran "...to stay out of jail..." ???
She has written for the "Huffington Post," is involved with a less than honorable law suit involving a former NBA referee and his allegations of "fraud" between him and her company. Allegedly, her company owes him a large sum of money following her company publishing his book about gambling in the NBA.
I believe her "rumors" regarding the Governor of Florida Rick Scott running for office is a PURE ratings ploy...the "Big Show" sadly needs it/them (ratings).
Oh well, guess I'll attempt to tune in "Imus in the mornings" again...

I heard Markowski's overmodulated voice, talking over the delay of same voice as 50 thousand watts leaked back into the audio chain, going after Vercher and Reeves and accusing them of "kissing Pam Iorio's ***" the day the high speed rail went down for good. He patted himself on the back for, among other things, his ratings. Ratings? No host at 820 has any business bragging about that. Congrats on all three for getting a feud going, something that is impossible at most talk stations in 2011.

"Over modulated:; on both am AND pm shows (local shows).
Yeah, it's boiled to a pi**ing contest for sure. However, they [Big Show] and Vercher are completely misrepresenting themselves to the audience, and the reaction Markowsky retorted. Reeves "reaction" to Markowsky's call to the "Big Show" was COMPLETELY 1) unprofessional, 2) unwarranted, and 3) offered insight to the stability (or instability) to his [Reeves] mindset.
Incidentally, Reeves himself said (paraphrasing), "...I've never seen Mayor Pam more passionate about any issue like she is with the rail thing..." Really? Maybe this radio feud (which I feel is real) is opening some eyes as to the sincerity local personalities, as well as local elected officials have as the issues relate to clarity AND truth...and how their positions are truly hedged/developed.
While many shows use conjecture and spin, none locally do more so than the Reeves and Vercher teaming.
"Donaghy dismissed Vercher's explanations as attempts to stall and rebuked her for resorting to "tabloid tactics" that he believes are designed to take advantage of his public perception in the sports world as a cheat and a pariah."
I am not the only one who feels the "spin."

Vercher is there to tell Reeves why he thinks what he thinks.

Has there ever been a REAL radio feud?
Tuesday, March 8, 2011 brought up the topic of how certain "parties" are being "manipulated" and "deceived," but are/were still considered "good people" by the "Big Show" [Reeves/Vercher].

Someone said, back on February 20, 2011 the nearly exact same thing:

" What do you think of this broader movement of the Tea Party, of -- of what's going on on the right?

SOROS: Look, I think the people in the Tea Party are very decent people, hard-working. They've been hit by a force that -- that comes from somewhere which they can't fully understand, and -- and they are being misled. And they are misled by people who are using it for their selfish purposes, namely to remove regulations and -- and reduce taxation. So reduce taxation and regulation, and they are being used and deceived."
I do not believe Mike, nor Walker, thought above topic on themselves.
For the record, I do NOT care what one's opinion is/was. I care about the emperical value(s) that bring them [ideas] to the microphone. don't "wear" a mask on the radio [middle-of-the-road], then author/compose/publish/advocate/speak for a completely opposite position/opinion [traditional leftist ideologies]. Just the facts man.
I'll give it to Reeves-and JoJo-for that matter; Reeves did admit that he did/does own land along the formerly proposed route of the alleged "High-Speed Rail," and JoJo, for the sake of his constitution, voices his opinion and sticks to his guns. However, Shawna appears to be a "lady for all seasons." Listners desire consistency, vice hypocrisy.

...and in their [Reeves/Vercher] defense of National Public Radio (NPR), and conjecture with/about a third political party [TEA Party], and "tabloid" tactics with/about the Florida Governor the question is- Does the "Big Show" morning team-on Tuesdays and Fridays-support/condone the following quote/story from NPR?
"Daisy Hernandez (no relation to Daniel Hernandez) is the co-editor of Colonize This! Young Women on Today's Feminism.

I wasn't the only person on Saturday who rushed to her Android when news came of the Tucson shooting. I wasn't looking however to read about what had happened. My auntie had already filled me in — "Someone tried to murder una representante. People have been killed," she'd reported. What I wanted to know was the killer's surname.

My eyes scanned the mobile papers. I held my breath. Finally, I saw it: Jared Loughner. Not a Ramirez, Gonzalez or Garcia.

It's safe to say there was a collective sigh of brown relief when the Tucson killer turned out to be a gringo. Had the shooter been Latino, media pundits wouldn't be discussing the impact of nasty politics on a young man this week — they'd be demanding an even more stringent anti-immigrant policy. The new members of the House would be stepping over each other to propose new legislation for more guns on the border, more mothers to be deported, and more employers to be penalized for hiring brown people. Obama would be attending funerals and telling the nation tonight that he was going to increase security just about everywhere.

In short, the only reason the nation is taking a few days to reflect on the animosity in politics today is precisely that the shooter was not Latino.

"

Is this what is meant by Vercher's cliche regarding, "Sisters-in-combat"?
"Inquiring minds want to know."
