WWBB, WCIB downgrade to help WBWL

I saw HJY's jump… they're essentially a classic rock station now so perhaps they snagged some listeners. Plus, HJY has removed Geoff Charles from afternoon drive. Perhaps this has helped with displaced B101 listeners.

I work in the Brockton/Bridgewater area and there is a quite noticeable difference in B101's signal quality in that area. Providence stations come in like a local station in that area, but B101 is very staticky. 101.7 WBWL's signal has improved, but they're not making any real gains in the Boston market. In fact, in the Brockton/Bridgewater area, Cat Country 98.1 seems to be the country station of choice given the businesses I frequent and what they have on. I understand that perhaps this is making business sense for iDontHeartLocalCommunities, but to displace a station with 25 years' heritage in favor of an almost-syndicated second-tier country station IN BOSTON doesn't make sense.

While I agree that 'HJY is largely a Classic Rocker, they have actually added some late '90s and early 2000s tracks lately. Geoff Charles was not moved until a week or two into March, so that move had no impact on February's ratings. If anything, the tone of Doug and Scarpetti's show skews much younger than Charles' show had. Excellent point about the lack of gains for The Bull.

I noticed that on Cool 102's website, CC is branding it a Classic Rocker. Is this just nomenclature, or has there been a shift toward pure Classic Rock from Classic Hits?

Looking at WCIB's playlist, it appears that the station has more of a rock-leaning classic hits tone. With that said, Dan Hartman's "I Can Dream About You" would not fall anywhere in the classic rock genre.

Update: did a 45-minute monit on WCIB and the station is positioned as "classic hits" whether by imaging or on-air.

Bad Station

The fall continues; Bill George has not been on the air in the afternoon. Premium Choice voice tracking has been there. The playlist seems to be shrinking. Heard a traffic report that was at least an hour old. I have heard week old weather forecasts. With the weak signal and the drop in share and cume, has I heart given up on the B? It sure sounds like it. (ROR's numbers in Boston might be a result in the B's downgrade.)

disgusting

This is disgusting and unfair to boot. How long is it going to be before all of our stations get cannibalized for Boston upgrades. And last I checked 101.7 isn't even country anymore.. Which makes this move an epic fail.. Guess that is what should be expected from crap channel...

But don't forget, you can hear B101 on iHeartRadio!

Even that is crap. Someone informed me that at times the B101 stream isn't the same as the air signal. In other words, there's another stream of music going out that is separate and different from the actual air product.

WWBB was once a great. She's sadly dying a slow death.
