What ever happen to the jocks that were on from 2004 thru 2006. Some of them were great and then they were gone. It seems a few were there only a couple of months. Mostly the night djs. What is there story? How come they cannot keep anyone?

most of them were 20-something females straight out of NESCOM, my guess: never got it done ratings-wise, not in the industry anymore and never to be heard from again unless you're looking for something at Wal-Mart or at the drive-thru.

What about some of the dudes that were on there? There was a guy on at nights a few years ago that was pretty good. What happen with him?

Michael Hale who used to do mornings on B97 is now doing mornings on WWMJ I-95, Dave Glidden who did afternoons on B97 is now doing afternoons on WQCB Q106.5, Cindy Michaels is now the news anchor on Channel 7 WVII

There was Melissa Mathers at night and then some other guy. He was pretty funny. He did a booty call and the dont date list. He was pretty entertaining.

Where is Bill the butler? He was good too.

Dude! Thanks, I am alive and well, and currently the director of Ops, and overnight (VT) jock for WNSX @97.7.

The night guy you're thinking of was DB Nyce. He left B97 and went a morning gig in Florida, then I lost track of him.

Vanessa Fox also went to Flordia, and then moved... I lost track of her too!

Mathers is back in Boston, and is, at last check, taking a breather from the biz.

Cindy Michaels went to WKSQ, then to WVII-TV.

Bill DaButler.
"I look like Antonio Bandarez... only different!"

Good bye WWBX, the format is going to be replaced with sports from Boston

Worst move, in my mind, ever

What would you rather have, another sports station, or Top-40 music with some rythmic mixed in?

Ben, I know you're hurting because one of your favorite stations is disappearing, but from a business standpoint it does make sense. This is, after all, a very bottom line business, and Blueberry no doubt feels that they will be able to bring in alot more revenue via sports than the current format. Just listen to the stations, there aren't alot of commercials on it, and at $2.00 - $5.00 or so what they were charging, they weren't bringing in enough revenue

i know but still....... sports radio is already found in the market (WZON), it doesnt quite make sense why sports? I'm still angry about it, and I wouldn't mind another company buying B97 and adding commericals like u said or adding better Top 40 or something. Ugh i really wouldn't mind that!

Ben,

Why is it ok for Bangor to have two CHR's but not two Sports stations? I don't understand your point of view, other then the fact that it seems you don't like sports. What about the people who do like sports but don't ESPN radio? They don't get another choice? If another FM station flipped to News/Talk in Bangor it would probably do well. People might like something other then Beck and Rush... The fact is Sports and News/Talk are growing formats. Maybe Steven King will buy WGUY and WFZX and make one CHR for you.

Bangor has 2 other talk stations.......little 1kw AMers that went on a couple years ago, both carry the same right-wing schedule of Ingram/Gallagher/Reagan/O'Reilly

In regards to the original question, I can say with 100% assurance that Dave Glidden was NOT on B97 between 2004 and 2006 :)

spins45sallday,

i guess i believe that CHR is more on the FM than AM, plus you couldn't have 2 Sports stations on the AM?!
I'm terribly upset that Bangor has one CHR now, WBZN is not a real CHR that plays more Hot AC and burned out Pop hits than B97 ever did. Sports is sports, if you really want something else than ESPN Sports, there are other station you can get moderely well in the area that have FOX Sports or etc. CHR is something Maine lacks, and to lose 2 stations..... not good.
92 Moose can kind of come in to Bangor, but even they play the occasional 90's and 80's hits, R-Y-T-H-M-I-C! please!
It's great to have some variety!

Soooo..... Does that mean I have to change my Radio-Info Screen name?

I can remember working back at B97. Doing nights, yelling at callers, trying to be as funny as Paul Brown and failing miserably... Ahh, the memories.

And even though my name hadn't been brought up in the, "hey where'd they go?" question, it's OK. I thought I sucked too.

:D

BigDaddy(no longer)onB97

I loved ya Big Daddy. You rocked up a storm.

Ben - WBZN is a true CHR by the way... CHR is pop..."Contemporary Hit Radio".... Your thinking of CHR/Urban, or CHR/Rhythmic... Until recently Radio and Records had the charts labeled as such, but they now have CHR-Top 40, Urban and Rhythmic.

i meant that, sorry. I meant CHR/Rythmic, now Maine won't have one single station that has even a little rythmic mixed in, are we that much rural where the most "hip" music is Sara Barielles? Just wondering here....?

I do have a cut of for some rap, some is just hard to listen, like what WRED had almost, but still c'mon!!!

yes, a good station... for portland.... idk if it's just that most ppl that have responded to my posts just don't like Rythmic CHR or what B97 was, but just imagine if your station was to be replaced by a format you would have totally disagreed about. That's what happened with me. Fourtuately, I am going to be in the area Saturday so I will listen in for the final time :-\
