WWDB gets FM simulcast

RadioInsight is reporting Beasley just picked up 97.1 W246CT out of Salem, NJ with plans to move it to 104.9 & serve as a WWDB rebroadcaster. I can't say they're one of my presets (through strangely enough, China's 1540 is) but I'll appreciate there being a strange talk outlet available on FM. Condolences to anybody in town who enjoyed being able to pick up SoJo 1049 while dricing around.

Sidenote- pretty cool to see a few new FM's bubble up out of seemingly nowhere (97.1, 105.7). Strangely enough, they're currently both rebroadcasting AM stations as well.

Two questions, why couldn't WHAT, when they were Standards pick up one of the translators to rebroadcast their format in FM stereo, it would of made a difference and probably kept them afloat. Why is Jazz still on WDAS-AM, is anyone really listening, wouldn't Standards make a better choice on 1480 and
106.1-HD-2. Just a few thoughts.

Maybe they didn't have the extra funds, maybe nothing was available then, maybe both. Irrelevant in the end--the results wouldn't have changed.

Six of one, a half dozen of the other.

How does the FCC allow a low powered FM in the city on 104.9 with SoJo so close? I can get SoJo on my car radio in Chester County, PA.

Is the transmitter going to be in the antenna farm, if so, wouldn't that be too close to WRFF.

Isn't the only reason smooth jazz is on 1480 is to get around music fees on the iheartradio app? Same reason Radio Disney is keeping one AM station after selling the rest.

AM or FM, standards appeals to pre-Boomers who are all in their 70's or older. There has not been a market for real standards for many years, even when "gussied up" with more recent recordings of standards.

Wouldn't just having the smooth jazz on the subchannel on Mix 106.1 be enough? iheart has Nick Radio on a subchannel on Z100 in NY in addition to being on the app. Radio Disney started 2 more channels, Radio Disney Country & Radio Disney Jr. I think they stream only and are not on ota like Radio Disney is in LA on AM.
