WWDP-TV in Norwell has added Fujisankei's Japanese morning news program News Catch at 7 a.m. It's the first time that the show has been seen on broadcast TV here in the Boston area. Looks like we've got a large Japanese community here.
this provides a bit more choice in points of view (I hope), since WGBH (or at least one of its sub-channels) has been airing the NHK news in the evening for a while now.
That's an interesting move for WWDP - if you can receive its very weak signal off the air, which I almost never can despite being less than 20 miles from their transmitter.
The WWDP (plus WMFP) signal coverage is very poor because of the very short 460 foot tower they broadcast from. But they do have must-carry rights for ch 46-1 (and 62-1), and therefore the Japanese news will get cable coverage over most of the market.
