WWE isssues another statement on Chris Benoit

I agree with this. Evidently, there was obviously something wrong going on in Benoit's mind for him to do this, but it's also totally wrong for the news media to try to blame this on steriods. Just because a wrestler dies, they want to blame it on steroids. This is, evidently, not the case. It may have been severe depression, possibly caused by the use/abuse of some other substance. We can only speculate until the toxicology reports come back, and even then they may be inconclusive. I'm hoping that there may have been some sort of note/letter stating his thoughts. But, the fact of the matter is: We may never know, and maybe we shouldn't.

I haven't seen anyone "blame this on steroids." The reports I've seen have simply stated that police say they're investigating any possible link between them and the murders.

Why so defensive about steroids? You are aware that they can lead to all sorts psychological troubles and violent outbursts, aren't you? Of all the things to worry about in this story, protecting steroids from bad PR would seem to be pretty far down the list...

I have read (in today's paper, in fact) that steroids
can cause paranoia and manic-depressive behavior,
and the authorities found a supply of steroids in
Benoit's house. That suggests the possibility
that the murder-suicide was steroid-related, but being
neither a toxicologist nor a psychiatrist, nor an acquaintance
of Benoit, I'm not going to try to guess what his state of
mind was.

It does seem bizarre that he placed Bibles beside the bodies
of his wife and son. It also seems strange that with the
successful career he had that he would want to do this.

This could end up like some other celebrity deaths (George
Reeves comes to mind) in which we will never know the
full story.
