WWE RETURNS TO NBC-TV. ADVERTISERS

I saw very few. In Tampa, the ads were the two minute condensed version of Time Life 70s collection, and an assortment of vegetable choppers.

Anybody see local ads in your market?

Even though the WWE is a big name, it seems that Saturday night's a cursed night for NBC, as they couldn't sell the time. Very few people watch TV on Saturday night, and if they do, they either watch CBS, Fox or ABC (or even the UPN or WB stations when their networks are off). It seems the viewers ignore NBC like the plague.

Has the other "Big 4" networks have any trouble with their Saturday ad inventories? Don't think Fox has trouble, with their die-hards "Cops" and "America's Most Wanted".

We got those ads where I live, also. I know of a guy who bought a spot on KXAS in DFW for a wrestling DVD he's selling. Imagine buying a spot in prime time on a network O&O!

They just can't sell Saturday nights.

I wish it could've been a 90-minute special, like the old days, preempting "SNL" between 1985 and 1991 on NBC. To me, those were worth staying up for! :)

(Yes, I did record the show for my permanent collection.)

Enjoy this one while you can.

There are rumors that if this one don't improve in the ratings from March, this

may have as well as been the last one.

And Guess what rating it got: 2.9

down 2 points from March.

The fact that the WWE didn't do as much promos on NBC as you would think

that would make both Raw and ECW on SCI FI top of the basic cable ratings,

stuns me. The only one I saw was late night during Late Night With Conan O'Brien

The first show was part of the buildup to WrestleMania XXII, the WWE's "Super Bowl" of sorts. Two, it's the middle of July on a Saturday night. What else did you expect? Also, WWE was only contracted to produce two specials for NBC.

NBC insisted that WWE buy the ads to promote the Saturday Night special. When they declined, NBC cut all promos for the show, execpt in late night. The result was exactly what NBC was looking for: a reason to show pro wrestling on major network TV the door for good.
