Here in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area, if I were a wrestling fan, I'd have enjoyed Smackdown over-the-air in HD from my local CW affiliate, for about the last 6 months. However, I guess most fans in this area would have been watching it in SD via Comcast, who supposedly has no interest in carrying the station's HD feed ...Or, on Dish or DirecTV, neither of which carry the station's HD feed.
Now, it's a downgrade, as we now only get the program in SD via the DT3 subchannel of our Fox affiliate (WOLF-TV). It's a simulcast of the originating station (WQMY) which is about an hour west of here, in Williamsport. (Not sure if they're broadcasting in HD, or even SD digital, yet.) People within the city of Wilkes-Barre can get the station on their cable system, Service Electric. But Comcast, which covers most of the rest of the area, supposedly also has no interest in carrying the station at all ...neither SD nor HD.
So, now you either get it on cable in Wilkes-Barre, or with an antenna connected to a TV with an ATSC tuner, a separate ATSC tuner box, or an antenna connected to a Dish or DirecTV HD receiver.
