WWFD call sign change coming

Hubbard Broadcasting got approval today for some call sign changes. Chicago’s WSHE-FM will become WTBC-FM, by agreement with Townsquare, which already has a WTBC (AM).
The WSHE calls head east to all-digital WWFD. It’s all effective June 6.
Has Hubbard figured out how to make money with WWFD/The Gamut?

WWFD is a toy for their engineer to play with. And it is a testing ground for new HD radio technology. The station is nearly worthless without a translator

So I've heard. The music they play is from said engineer's personal library.
Digital WWFD did have a translator a few years ago, but they sold it. As the sale was getting close, the station ran a tongue-in-cheek announcement saying that the FM had been sold, and played a clip of the Steve Miller Band's "Take the Money and Run".:D
 
FWIW back in 2021 when I visited Frederick, my Kenwood HD radio in the car could not decode the 820 signal. Unsure if it was just my radio having an issue, but my Sony XDR-S10 radio can decode WFAS 1230 which is HD-only with no issues, even from 20 miles away from the transmitter. And that's an older radio than the Kenwood in my car.

Must be your radio because I listen (as long as I can stand the schizophrenic playlist) to the station around the I-495 loop regularly. That includes the factory radio in my Volvo XC60, my convertible with a Kenwood aftermarket HD tuner/navigation, my wife's Jaguar with factory system, or even my F350 with factory system.
 
I listened in my Subaru factory installed radio as I was driving to Pennsylvania from the Autotrain station in Lorton. The coverage was pretty impressive as was the quality of the audio.
