WWFS New HD Channel

This morning they took off the 1010 Wins simulcast and put WNEW on the HD2. On my HD radio it says WNEW Where Rock Lives. It's mostly Alternative Rock from the 70's and up.

I don't have an HD radio (I see no need to buy another doomed technology), but if they are doing that on the HD2, it's a good thing. They ought to remove that dreck on WWFS and replace it with something...anything...hell, make it NYC's dance station and move the LPTV audio over to it!

Their not streaming.

All CBS stations are streaming including HD2, so I don't no why they are not streaming yet. I hope it's comming. Website www.wnew.com is also not working yet. And I read elswhere that they name the website in promo's on this channel.

One thing I like about the stream is it works with the first click, and shows the album art. With nice clean audio. I'm frustrated by having to jump through hoops just to sample the channel. I don't see how this can go over without very talented curators, because one thing about WNEW was that the DJs really did connect with the bands and the listeners - and it's challenging to do that on automated internet streams. To continue the legend, the "station" has to maintain a personality.

Livestream sounds a little bit to 'flat' and lots of level problems, sometimes it sounds loud and sometimes it sounds to soft. I hope they fix it.
Also there is less imaging on the station so it sounds like an mp3 player on shuffle. I listen a half hour to the stream and only what I hear was an ID for the website.

I was a huge fan of the old WNEW "Where Rock Lives" format and, if presented just as it was back in the day, I'd be listening to the online stream.

It probably would not compel me to purchase an HD Radio, however...

I was just listening to the WNEW stream and "Thick as a Brick" by Tull when they cut it off right in the middle for a Van Morrison track! Not sure if it's a kink of being new, but I know the original WNEW wouldn't dare do that.

Shiny Happy People....Let's Dance (long version).....John Mayer....BB King. This is sounding very AAA

I'd prefer more rock and will be interested how this develops

There are also lots of quiet moments between songs, I don't no if this was normal in the old WNEW days?
Sound quality from the stream is a still a little bit to 'flat'.

I was hoping for more music from the formitive day's of Progressive radio. Late 60's through mid 70's.

Exactly: Would be great to hear The Velvet Undergound, Traffic, Hendrix, and early Cooper blended with new stuff

Red Red Wine....was....just....pathetic.

I'm feeling a letdown coming......

It's sad that the real WNEW call letters are licensed to B-106.3 Adult Mix of Old School and R&B in West Palm Beach. Unless they get the format exactly how it was when 102.7 really was WNEW, it's not going to syphon people away from 101.9 RXP besides the fact that most people don't have HD receivers anyway.
