I ahd heard that the tower rent is 10K per month and there in lies the problem. I suppose they could always move the antenna back to where it was in Meredith but that wasn't the best signal.

10K a month for the Parade Rd site? Doesn't that seem a little high?

Nope. 10K might cover both stations. 98.3 and 101.5 might pay under one lease.

::) Maybe he had buyers remorse, I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't pay that much for small market signals even in a good economy.

Which, if my theory stands, that its all one lease, new lease negotiations would have to be signed for 98.3 and 101.5 on the tower.

And, the price of 10K for the tower lease was for 101.5 only. That's a lot of money considering 1510 The zone in Boston pays about 20K and that's crazy too.

Rent is Nassau's problem. They sold the steel!
It's NOT 10K a month. Likely 1/3 of that.
Wasn't there a lawsuit around 102.3 holding up the closing of that one and the other 2? What happened to that?
Also, has the 1-year deadline to get these back on the air come and gone? I know 102.3 is back but what about 99.1 and 101.5? Could Nassau let these go back to the commission? I doubt it?

Obviously, they have to get both 99.1 and 101.5 back on the air even for a day or the licenses are forfeited at 12:01 am March 2, 2011. Personally, I see no reason for any station to stay silent for this amount of time. It's a shame to see any station go silent. 'NNH was a great sounding station when Clark operated it. It would be great if 99.1 could come back as an oldies station. But, what can you do? They obviously got to get their act together, or.............

It appears as though Nassau asked for another 90 day extension in late November on the consummation of the 4 licenses they wished to sell.

Apparently the perspective buyer had tax issues they needed to deal with.

Is there anything that specifies how long a station has to be on air to reset the 1 year clock? Is it 24 hours? 1 hour? I've been unable to find anything in Part 73.

Commission precedent suggests a station needs to show some semblance of "regular programming" to be considered as operating for the purpose of resetting the 12-month clock. A TV station in Alabama lost its license last year after the FCC determined that returning to the air with a test pattern didn't constitute "broadcasting." IANAL, but I'd think a full day of operation would be the bare minimum, and I'd probably run it for a week just to be on the safe side if it were my license on the line.

Can't imagine that the tower is an issue. I know of several cell towers in the area that will rent space for under $250/month in the Lakes region for 101.5. Some of them may not be the best pick for a transmitter site, but at least it would get them on the air. I think 99.1's antenna were on a cell tower in Contoocook.
