WWIO-AM and S. Georgia GPB Stations

First, is WWIO-AM still actually on the air? I have seen them on the FCC database but haven't heard a legal ID from WSVH in about 2 years. I have never been able to pick them up in the GA/SC area. I know WWIO-FM has the 99.5 translator in St. Mary's which kinda negates the daytime-only AM (and the funny ID you'd hear at 4am "...and daytimes at WWIO-AM St. Mary's".)

HD? I know WSVH has it. It usually has three HD simulcasts delayed by about 5 seconds each. About 1 out of 4 weeks I notice they just have the main HD channel. Any other GPB stations in S. Georgia have it? If so, are you hearing roughly the same thing?

WWIO-AM 1190 has been out of the picture since the end of 2007. GPB never owned the station, it was 'leased out' as a repeater station of WWIO-FM 88.9/Brunswick.

When the AM station went down (for technical reasons, I understand), GPB leased a small translator at 99.5 - which ceased operation in the Spring, part of the network getting out of the translator business.

At the present time, there is no unique HD programming either on WSVH or on GPB. Since the digital transmitter was installed in 2008, the subchannels are being filled with the standard analog GPB feed. To my knowledge, this is being done at all the GPB radio sites.

(Ops Manager of WSVH/WWIO ... and the guilty party who voiced the retired "funny ID" - there was no way to daypart the automated ID drop, so that's how it had to roll :))
