I noticed on some old topo maps of Columbus a five tower array just to the SW of Port Columbus (off 10th street) marked as "WWIU Towers." I assume these were for airport communications? Anyone know?
WWIU was the old flight service station radio site which, of course, communicated with aircraft. Built around 1931. I believe it also had a beacon signal, part of the radio navigation route from Cleveland to Cincy.
