WWIZ (Mercer/Youngstown) vs WLSW (Scottdale) - 103.9

Since I ride my motorcycle to work o the time I haven't listened to FM radio, but I've been hoping for a long time WWIZ would increase their power so I could catch it in Cranberry Twp. I certainly have my fingers crossed since all we have left is The X since K-ROCK disappeared. There's really no other active rock station left and always enjoy listening to ROCK 104 whenever I'm up that way.

Did WWIZ jack up their power recently? They were drowning WLSW out this morning...

I know that at one point WWIZ (which I believe is owned by Cumulus) was considering an LMA with WLSW, about three or four years ago. Then the deal fell through. I don't think they can increase their power more than they already have had. They're at full Class A now. They can't get any more than that on that channel, and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong on this one.

The possibility exists that Stan could have reconsidered. He's been having health problems for a few years now.

The FCC removed the class restrictions back in the 80's I believe. Cumulus was going to move the station closer to PGH, in Hempfield Township IIRC but it never happened. Now with 104.3 in Beaver County that limits that move due to second adjacent spacing requirements.

I enjoy Rock 104. You also have to factor 103.9 out of New Martainsville WV as to another reason why they can't move south.

The CE there is a friend - they haven't changed anything since the 6kw increase years back. That said, there have been some squirrely evironmental issues up here as of late; WDVE has been getting killed by a co-channel in Buffalo. I'm about 60-miles due-North of Pgh, btw.
