WWJ-Detroit's new newscasts

So I've heard that WWJ in Detroit, the CBS O&O which had long ago abandoned newscasts has been airing a morning newscast, any word on how it's been going?

From what I've read it's not exactly a newscast. It's called "first weather" or something like that. The main focus is weather and traffic with a few news headlines.

Its not a true newscast in the TV sense...
Its more a video version of the Detroit Free Press

Still no OFFICIAL newscast however

This morning program launched on May 5 of this year. There's also traffic and weather information in addition to Freep headlines. I'll give WWJ credit for trying though, as it's hard to go up against the very-long established WJBK, WDIV, and WXYZ, and a fourth newscast is a tough go in an area devestated by the economic downturn.

I really wish WKBD would bring back a 10 PM newscast though, even if it was produced by Channel 7 like it was for a period of time.

Channel 62 also has a five-minute weather update at 11 PM nightly. Again, I think it's a good effort considering what they were only two years ago, bragging that "No News is Good News".

Even after all these yeas, I still find it hard to believe that a CBS O&O in the 11th largest TV market does not have evening local newscasts. But, then again, Detroit has a lot of problems, so I guess it isn't that surprising.
