WWL 105.3 FM signal

Has anyone notice that WWL FM 105.3 has turn off the stereo decoder for better signal throughout South Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast area?

Most N/T and translator stations have done this. A smart move.

That would actually be the stereo encoder, but it does make a huge difference in coverage when done.

Back when the 80-90 Docket was compelling all the big signal FMs to either upgrade to Full C or downgrade to C-1, 105.3 took the downgrade (dropped below 300 meters haat), as it could not otherwise move to a TV tower closer to New Orleans, rather than staying on a 350 ft tower in Slidell.

Its coverage should not be any different from the other New Orleans signals; perhaps some tropo bending took the signal all the way to Calciseu Parish.
