This afternoon (August 30th), while watching the webstream of WWL-4's live coverage of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the station, after having originated coverage from a studio at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge since Sunday, is now originating coverage from a makeshift studio in one of the rooms at their transmitter site.
A reporter at the transmitter site said that much of the video being shot was still being shipped to Baton Rouge and from there was fed to the transmitter.
Aerial footage broadcast late this afternoon (which was taped some hours earlier by a helicopter from a Houston station that was loaned to WWL) showed flooding in much of the city, but not yet at WWL's main studios (I could tell it was their main studio because of the satellite dishes and several WWL news trucks parked outside). That may have changed.
Update, 6:50 P.M. EDT: WWL has gone back to originating coverage from Baton Rouge. So it's very possible that coverage will be switching back-and-forth between Baton Rouge and the transmitter site.
Edited by Joseph_Gallant on 08/30/05 10:51 PM.
