WWL/Entercom's Vince Marinello's wife murdered

from WWLTV.com:

Veteran radio broadcaster Vince Marinello was questioned in connection with the death of his wife, who was shot and killed in Old Metairie Thursday though Sheriff Harry Lee was quick to point out that interviewing spouses in such cases is standard.

Marinello's attorney, Donald "Chick" Foret, said Marinello answered all the questions asked of him and was cooperative.

Sheriff Lee said that Marinello called Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s officials early Friday from Jackson, Mississippi and was very upset. Marinello then told Lee that he knew investigators would have questions for him and that he would return to New Orleans.

“They (spouses) are always a suspect and most of the time they’re immediately eliminated,” said Lee. “We would not eliminate Vince until we got a chance to talk to him.”

Lee said during an afternoon press briefing that the Marinellos were either contemplating or in the process of a divorce that he described as unfriendly. Lee said Harahan Police Chief Peter Dale said that officers had gone to the Marinellos’ home a few weeks ago on a domestic disturbance call and that Mary Elizabeth Marinello was cited in the incident.

According to Lee, deputies still believe that Mary Elizabeth Marinello was shot and killed as part of a botched robbery attempt in a parking lot in the 400 block of Metairie Road. Though there were no eyewitnesses to the shooting, several people working in offices nearby told deputies they heard the shooting.

Mary Elizabeth Marinello was found outside in a pool of blood. She had been shot twice in the face and died early Friday at Charity’s facilities in Elmwood.

On Times Picayune site:

Mary Elizabeth Marinello only recently discovered that her husband was still married to his first wife when the couple wed in October 2004. That news triggered her request for a divorce in July, her family members said.

Vince Marinello--BIGAMIST!

To have an employee guilty of bigamy is enough of a reason to have him fired. Having someone like that is poison to an airstaff. I couldn't imagine any other radio station wanting that "Yat" on-air, bigamist or not.

Oh, yeah, let's hurry up and fire this guy, he's a danger to society and the bottom line.

What happened to innocent until proven guilty.

E-Marti - can it.

I wasn't even referring to the murder of his wife, but the FACT that he was indeed married to one woman while married to another. I believe her family.

Most radio and TV stations reserve the right to fire any employee which causes embarrassment or scandal, whether or not they are guilty.

Danger to society...yes, he possibly is. Can you imagine how uncomfortable and awkward his coworkers must feel?
Even if he had nothing to do with getting rid of his wife, having a bigamist on-air is a scandal which can surely affect the bottom line.

No surprise that someone defending Marinello would make a Sopranos like threat. Yats like Marinello should be "canned".

First, condolences to the Norman family for their loss of a sister & daughter. Plus, a 10 year old child has lost a mother. Childen's Hospital, a co-worker of 14 years. No one cares to see senseless death like this.

Love to see that Emarti has been appointed judge & jury with this Marinello situation. Bigamist? That definition is "someone who knowingly marries more than one person, when done illegally, concealing the previous marriage or marriages".

You'll see where the divorce was file on October 15th and granted on the 24th, a day after the marriage. Sounds like a screw-up on the courts part & granted on a Sunday at that. You want to label Marinello as a bigmist, "a yat" & make reference to his nationality comparing a comment to " Sorprano like threats". It's obvious you do not like the man's work. But to judge him on your personal likes & the fact you just "believe her family", is flat out brainless.

Let the sheriff's department do their job & the truth come out. I believe it's wrong try to convict Marinello in the media, by you or her family. Nobody knows the all facts yet...but one, you're stupidity.

Vinnie is going through some trying times right now, according to his sidekick Bob Mitchell.
All we can do is remember Vinnie and his family in our prayers. Vinnie will pull through. He's a TROOPER

He needs more than prayers...from Times Picayune:

Marinello learned that her husband filed for divorce from his previous wife, Andrea, only eight days before their wedding and that divorce was not finalized by the time they said their vows, her relatives said. And she learned from her brother-in-law, Tony Marinello, that Andrea was not Marinello's first wife but his second; his first marriage was in 1956.

Liz Marinello also learned that the broadcaster was sued in January by Andrea Marinello, who asserted that he forged her name on $126,000 in loans secured with her certificates of deposit. That suit is still pending in Orleans Civil District Court.

He learned everything he knows about scamming people from his sidekick Mitchell.

As Bob Mitchell always says in the morning,
IT'S TIME FOR THE 7:30 STRETCH..............................................
Now everyone, let us all take the 7:30 stretch and clear our minds and souls....

As Mitchell SAID in the morning...make that past tense...

 I don't know about clearing our souls, but the JPSO is clearing Vinny's FEMA trailer as we speak...top of 10pm news...

Sheriff: Marinello killing a professional hit

12:02 AM CDT on Thursday, September 7, 2006

WWLTV.com

The shooting death of Mary Elizabeth Marinello was not a botched robbery but instead a professional hit, according to Sheriff Harry Lee, who talked to the press after deputies searched the FEMA trailer of Vince Marinello Wednesday night.

Lee said investigators also searched the house next door and did retrieve several items, but he said he couldn’t elaborate because an affidavit allowing the search had been sealed.

He should get bonus points for not putting out a hit on Bob Mitchell years ago.

Time to cancel that golf game, "Chick".....Looks like you'll be working some overtime for a while.

The coverage of his on WWL was AWFUL. Look, a sportscaster with a bad toupee killed his wife. Interesting story, but give it a rest! By the way, the host this afternoon - “Kenny” - is a joke - fawning all over himself, his guests, and his program director - what a goofball. He couldn’t finish a sentence without stammering, and he is obviously in awe of athletes. What a joke - an embarrassment on a big station like that.

This just in....

MARINELLO TO PLEAD "ITALIAN"

Confessing that he watches HBO's "The Sopranos" religiously and receives regular ribbings from his Sicilian buddies for never having "whacked" anyone, Vince Marinello plans to enter a plea of "Italian".
"He's always felt a little under appreciated", confirmed Marinello's attorney and friend, Donald "Chick Peas" Foret. "Ever since his days of being the only intelligible sportscaster at WDSU, Vinnie felt like he deserved a little more respect amongst his friends whose names also end in vowels".

His wife's family (whom I believe) said Vince told her that he had been divorced for years.

You are the brainless fool to blame the judicial system because some murderous, psycho yat broke the law and married before his divorce was finalized.

Too bad your friend Vince is gonna get raped at Angola! Too bad they can't get the death penalty!
