WWL is unlistenable

I came into town from Houston this week (evacuated after the storm) and was shocked at how bad WWL is. It has always been, to me, kind of a weak station from a talent standpoint, but now, having lived in Houston for a year, the weakness is amazing. The sports is especially bad. Serious question: Could Bobby, Hokie, and Kenny get jobs ANYWHERE but here? (Maybe Bobby in Atlanta, but that would be based on relationship, not talent.) If not, what does that say about our standards?

Ned.
Congrats on one of the most amazing streaks of consistency in the history of the internet.
22 for 22.
that's you!
22 posts... 22 slams of WWL, Kenny W, etc.
Here's a tip. Since you hate that station so much... STOP LISTENING. That's what that little button to the left of the radio is for, so you change the station.
You look like you have an agenda more than an opinion.

Kenny, you do not address the main point of the post. Do you, or do you not, think you, Bobby, and Hokie could get radio jobs outside this market? That is a yes or no question, and, frankly, a pretty easy one.

To make Kenny W. happy, I will retract my comments about him. He is terrific - another Bob Costas. Really, I am serious. He is great - he has come a long way in the last year. Great to hear and easy to listen to. Smooth, succinct, truly enjoyable. Really.

My main point, really, was the overall quality of the station. They can call themselves the news leaders, but that does not make it so. If I stand in my garage and call myself a corvette, that does not make it so.

It ain't just sports. You can tell when Dave Cohen is covering a news story on the street. Just look for his Ford Explorer with the magnetic signs on both doors, the hood, tailgate, in the windshield and probably on the roof. If there's metal available Dave, there's room for a few more. You think he wants to be noticed? The only one I can stomach is David Blake. The cream of the crop is Henderson and Gajan, dats it.

Give Kenny and THE CAJUN CANNON a chance. I know they're not Buddy Diliberto, but please stop slamming them.
I also think that THE CAJUN CANNON does a great job with THE POINT AFTER.
I also have an idea for Kenny and Bobby: Have a segment on sports talk called THE SQUIRREL REPORT with the DILIBERTO BROTHERS.
Anytime you find someone who is a squirrel, have the Diliberto Boys FIND AND CALL THEM OUT ON THE AIR.

Keep up the good work, Kenny and Bobby.

if it wasnt for those 3 i would never listen to any local radio. i have sirius and xm. but because wwl talks saints. i still listen.

Maybe Ned doesn't like to hear Bobby's ascent , the cajun french he teaches to Kenny, or mabye Kenny's car; I don't know but before he slams one station he should really listen to the crap comming from Houston (Rod Ryan Anybody?). The Squirrill Idea; interesting :-\

Alright, guys, here is a serious question. This is not a joke, and not meant to provoke. Please rate Kenny W. in the following categories, on a scale of 5, with 1 being “poor” and 5 being “great”:

Sports knowledge...
Clarity of speech...
Staying neutral in reporting...

Kenny, you can vote too. And, Kenny, I have one specific question directly for you. (Yes, I know you deny being Kenny, but that’s okay - you can still answer the question):

Please state one thing that Kenny W. does not do well.

Finally, I must admit that I do find Bobby and Hokie engaging. They are fun, and yes, I do like their “hometown spirit.” But, that is not the point of my post. The point is, from a straight news reporting, journalistic, unbiased standpoint, the sports programming, and indeed the station in general, is, frankly, minor league. Of course, if what one wants is shilling for the Saints or sugar coating the recovery in New Orleans, I guess this is fine. I, for one, would prefer honest, fair, unbalanced, technically skilled reporting.

Let me add one more thought to at least break Kenny W.’s claim that all I do is trash him.

The last time I listened to Mitchell (several weeks ago, I guess), he devoted an entire show to “What is your favorite Saints cheer of all time”? I mean, how many cheers have there been anyway? 5? 7? 10? What kind of a radio program is that? It was mildly amusing and quasi nostalgic for about 5 minutes, but having Clarence from Gretna, Betty from Metairie, Joe from Uptown, Roger from the northshore, and on and on and on simply call up and say, “Gee, Bob, great show, my favorite saying was ‘bless you boys,’ after which Mitchell would say, “Yeah, that was a great one, thanks for calling. Ralph from Gentilly, what is your favorite cheer?” “Hey, Bob, great show, my favorite cheer was ‘who dat’?”

Goodness, gracious, what a bomb of a show and station.

Louisiana/Re: WWL is unlistenable

DUDE, YOU'RE STILL ROLLING!!!!
26 of 26.
You are still on the roll.
I'll answer your incisive query.
Here's the one thing Kenny does not do well.
He does not jack-off on useless radio blog boards like a "nedryerson," cause he's to busy actually covering one of only 32 NFL football teams.

ned.

Piss.
Moan.
Wish.
Hate.
Say stupid crap.
The story of your life, huh?

It just isn't the same station without JR, Scoot, and DelGiorno.

I think what one could ask is why or how Cohen has single handedly managed to run off all his cream of the crop talent???

Great Wilkie Quote

From this link: http://www.neworleansprofootball.com/041805kennybobby.html

“We have one goal—to do some cutting-edge SportsTalk. Great guests; lots of sizzle; lots of energy; there won’t be a better sports show on the radio—locally or nationally.”

Let’s see.... Is the Kenny and Bobby show really the best sports show on the radio, locally or nationally? Gee, that’s at tough one.... Let me think..... Okay, I’d say yes, there is none better, locally or nationally. Good call, Kenny.
