WWL - Listening to YOU

from their latest e-mail:

"It's a new year, and starting today we'll bring you something new & exciting here on WWL. At 11 o'clock you will continue to hear Rush Limbaugh on the Big 8-70, but on 105-3 WWL-FM, you can now hear live, local programming. The demand for local content is so overwhelming--We got your calls & emails and once again we're responding--adjusting our programming to bring you what you want. Again, starting today at 11-catch Rush Limbaugh on the am dial at 870; and live, local programming on the fm dial at 105.3. Today Bob Mitchell will be your host on WWL-FM from 11 to 2. You can talk Sugar Bowl, Louisiana's no smoking law.and talk about the NOPD officers accused of murder on the Danzinger bridge. Rush 11 to 2 on the Big 8-70-live, local programming on WWL-FM 105-3-another exciting day here at WWL-as we continue to change with the times to bring you what you want. Happy New Year!"

Interesting programming change. Sounds like Clear Channel put the stop to WWL airing Rush on AM & FM. Probably wanted more money for the two frequenies or it could have been an out for CC to pull Rush from Entercom and put him on WRNO. Hmmmmm?

Local programming on FM? Bob Mitchell today from 11-2? I doesn't sound permanent. What about tomorrow? Sounds like they have their head in the bottom of the barrel. Mitchell verus Andre'? Who do you think win win that one, pal? Will 11-2 before "On Demand" on 1350? My question now is, will the ratings reflect WWL-A and WWL-F because of seperate programming? Bringing me what I want? How about less Mitchell. Happy Mardi Gras!

What kinda crap is this? Corporate radio lies outright when they say "we listen to you" when all that is, is boldface lies, brass onions and out-and-out-deception. ALL they listen to is their consultants, playing by the book in some far-away city. Let's get 1000 people to tell WWL we want KOOL back and see how much they listen. Liars!

Oh wait...excuse me...they "listen?" ... as much as a 3-year-old does. They should say they "hear" instead of "listen" in the true context of big-money, out-of-town ownership corporate radio...or TV. They hear, then they do what they wanted to all along. The name of the game is "smoke and mirrors" to the few listeners left who are still gullible to this deception.

C'mon, be honest WWL...why is BIG RATINGS RUSH suddenly off 105.3? Money? Contracts? Just don't lie to the listeners like they're stupid.

And having Mitchell do a cerebral talk show (not "Sugar Bowl" or "What's your favorite Saints cheer", or "What's your favorite snowball flavor"), is like having a monkey doing a lobotomy on Dave Cohen. Then again ... :-D

WWL, and their plethora of Medusa snake sister stations, just seems to be splashing in the toilet in the direction they're going, while trying to convince and telling everyone "Don't we smell good?"

2007 is going to be an interesting year for this potential train wreck.

And before someone plays the stupid jealousy card against my honest post, I have never worked in radio, never had the desire to, but I've loved listening to NO radio in all its interesting incarnations since I moved here in the early 80's.

Funny...where was Bob Mitchell, as stated in there email? Todd Menasses was on this afternoon between noon & two. Gawland was a "best of" repeat. Where was Lil' Timmy Tuber and the stink tank? He cracks me up. Unusual, both are MIA.
