WWL New Orleans

Last night driving home from work (around 2AM, Central) I caught a little bit of WWL out of New Orleans (I live in Bismarck, North Dakota). The host was talking calls from local folks who were describing their respective situations. Despite the bleak scenario, the host and the callers were quite upbeat and optimistic about dealing with the situation.

To the folks at AM 870, congratulations; I'm convinced the Big Easy will rise again...

WWL is a true monument to why we need well maintained emergency radio facilities. WWL is the temporary flagship for news most local stations in New Orleans. It's great to see normally competing stations work together to pull their community from a killer disaster.

WWL has done a tremendous job. I imagine it is providing a very important service to New Orleans residents who have evacuated to other states. Certainly shows AM radio is still important, and we really do need these 50kw blowtorches in times of emergency.

It's now the "United radio Broadcasters of New Orleans" and simulcasting other other Entercom and CC stations. A contingent from CC Cincinnati is on its way to assist.<P ID="signature">______________
