WWL should drop Rush and pick up O'Reilly

Rush Limbaugh has gotten to be tiresome. He's just a PR man for the GOP. He doesn't have the interest to go in depth on anything. O'Reilly looks at much more influential ideas and topics. And don't believe all those "high ratings" Rush has. Savage cracked the data that Rush and Hannity are down big time since 1 year ago. I don't know where O'Reilly's show stands, but I think he's a good show for WWL since WSMB is dropping him and Dr. Laura for Air America.

And I've been angry WSMB didn't carry all 3 hours of O'Reilly's show. At least I have heard his show is 3 hours isn't it?

i dont think it would ever happen. rush is just to big. however there is this 690 frequency :)....
______________

I agree that Rush's show has gotten old, but I also agree that WWL probably won't ditch it. But 690 AM would be a good place for O'Reilly. They should pull Sports Wrap as well as Tammy Bruce's show and replace with O'Reilly and Dr. Laura.

Rush still beats O'Reilly in the ratings. In New York, where they're both on 50,000 watt blowtorches, Limbaugh has double O'Reilly's ratings in both 12+ and 25-54. And Al Franken, on a much weaker signal, also beats O'Reilly in the 25-54 demo and isn't far behind in 12+.

That would be the worst move ever.

It's obvious you don't like Rush, but enjoy O'Reilly. But, the problem is that you're in the minority of radio listeners. And until the majority wants that change, or you gather enough cash to buy 870 from Entercom so you can make programming decisions, you're S.O.L.

O'Reilly's show has always been two hours, FYI. 1300 in BR, I remember, would run a hour in tape delay to fill a three hour period. Now they DB the whole show until after Savage.

Truthfully, unless the Sports Wrap folks buy their time on 690, TIX-AM should definitely look at shows that will be dropped by WSMB. I'd worry more about O'Reilly than Laura, especially since they have Hannity. Her show just doesn't fit anymore on a current-events oriented talk station, and henceforth, affiliates are dropping her left and right. I would be wary of picking up her show on the sheer fact that I don't know how much gas she has left in the tank. Also, picking up O'R enhances their Fox News Radio affiliation.

Oh, and the "don't believe the high ratings" comment? Sorry, but you have to. Especially if you're selling radio. Rush pulls more in that O'Reilly. You want to be heard, you go where the most listeners are. And even if Rush/Hannity ratings are down, they're still doing quite well from themselves.

Anyone dumping Rush for OReilly is insane. Rush is still Rush, he may go up down or sideways but hes always gonna have the most listeners.

I spoke with the guy who runs 690 AM - no interest in O'Reilly or Laura cause they would be taped delayed PLUS hannity covers that base

Not sure about the sports show but i like having somethin to listen to other than Rush...Mark Clark makes me giggle

That station doesn't pick up well at all on the southshore, at least in Metairie. You can't even hear it at night. It's so stupid that the station is in Metairie (it's on Kingman Street immeidately behind Payless Shoe Source---you can see Robert Namer's "Voice of America" bus parked in the parking lot of the small building) but yet the transmitter is in Covington. Besides, they run Gordon Liddy's program at that time. And "fatman" just posted earlier in the thread that WWL will air Bill O'Reilly on tape delay from 10 PM to midnight following Kaare Johnson. So long Rick Ballou and Sporting News.

And right now, you can't hear ANYTHING, since US Marshals seized the station and ordered it to be sold.

(link above is a story about it; link below is just some Namer bitching)

Shoulda paid your fines, Namer.
______________

I didn't realize it was off the air until someone was bitching about it in the TV Focus section of Sunday's Times Picayune.

But Yep, A Silent STA has been filed on the station showing it off the air since June 26th and a change of ownership paper has been filed with the FCC to change ownership of the station over to the current receiver

Now if the transmitter and broadcasting will resume during the time the receivership holds the station is the question of the day...

There is about a 2 week lead time on questions to the New Orleans Times Picayune paper and the person who wrote in actually didn't ask about Namer but Keith Rush as the woman in River Ridge couldn't "locate his station on the radio"

This week was actually blab on radio as there was a letter writer complaining about the T/S Storm coverage of the news AMs in New Orleans and One person actually complaining about loosing the twins (I wish I knew however about the ad... Was it just regionally on the northshore or all over the metro?)

On a format, There are many syndicated programs (remember that Entercon just canned a lot of them for progressive talk) that could be used to program the station. Also a Sat Fed format could be used if the STA expires before auction.
