WWL, Who's simulcasting?

I was listening to 870 this morning and they gave a list of about 10 stations that were simulcasting their broadcast around Louisiana and Mississippi. I remember them listing KANE in Lafayette and WQFX in Biloxi. I scanned the dial and found the simulcast on WCOA in Pensacola. I can't find anything mentioned on their website about simulcasts. Who else is simulcasting WWL? Are any other news stations being simulcast outside of New Orleans?

Found this on the WWL website.

2008 WWL Hurricane Coverage Network

KANE – 1240 AM … New Iberia, LA
KZMZ – 96.9 FM … Alexandria, LA (full simulcast)
WMXI – 98.1 FM … Hattiesburg, MS
KMLB – 540 AM … Monroe, LA (using some of our coverage)
WQFX – 1130 AM…Gulfport/Biloxi, MS (simulcast)
WAML- 1340 AM…Laurel, MS (simulcast)
WCOA- 1370 AM…Pensacola, Fl (simulcast)
KVPI – 1050 AM….Ville Platte, La (simulcast when needed)
KVPI-92.5 FM……..Ville Platte, La (simulcast when needed

Good luck to you all. My thoughts are with you.

was listening to WWL on the web earler, they rambled off all their stations in the top of hour id.

Checked the Citdel station on line (mix 92.3) and they appear to be just potting up Ch 6 WDSU.

Q93.3 Clear Channel appears to be a jukebox (at least on their web stream) with hourly updates and traffic reports before it stopsets (dont know if their webstream is the actual on air feed or not) --seems odd to just be a jukebox.

Tried to check out 89.1 WBSN Lifesongs online but their website appears to be down.

90.7 the jazz station is just streaming archives online and state they have signed off on FM until it passes.

The NPR station 89.9 website states they suspended local programming and are just running bird (network programming).

My thoughts are with everyone, I pray that the storm weakens and is not as horrific as they are expecting.

The NOLA stations I remember hearing in the simulcast last night were: ESPN 1350 AM, WBYU 95.7, B-97, WLMG 101.9 and of course WWL 105.3

It's unfortunate that Entercom hasn't used some of their other, more northern stations to simulcast.

Here in Memphis, for instance, we are getting our share of folks leaving the Coast, as we did with Katrina. But, there is really no information for those arriving about what is happening back home, or to give them information on what to do when they're here. Entercom has two AMs here that wouldn't be missed for a day, or two. And, of course, we have our share of throw-away AMs that would be well-fit for the job.

One can hear Mississippi Public Broadcasting on FM. They're doing a fair job.

WDSU-TV 6 is being carried nationwide on DirecTV channel 361

I believe WDSU is also being broadcast on Cox Cable in Baton Rouge. Don't know the channel though (I'm still in Metro New Orleans).

It's KBTR-CA (branded as WBTR), Channel 19 Cox/Channel 41 over-the-air.

WWL-TV is being simulcast statewide on LPB's second digital channel (normally the Create channel)

WWL's saltwater groundwave is nice and strong here in Naples. Once again, they're doing what radio can do best. My hat is off to the WWL crew!!

I am wondering...

Being in South Florida (which I assume is the "Naples" to which you refer), how well can you hear WWL at night? I was listening to the Big 870 last night here in Memphis, and was getting some light Cuban interference from a Radio Reloj. My listing shows it as only 1 kW, but being Cuban, I suppose it could be nearly anything.

Does the station cause WWL grief down there?
