I'm posting this on both boards. I noticed that Lite Rock 105 and Lite Rock 105.9 have the exact same website design, and are sister stations as well. I would like to know, which of these stations came first? I know that WWLI has had their own local nighttime show for years, while WLTI has Delilah. However, I have a feeling that Nite Lite with Art Spencer may be replaced with Delilah when he retires. Though I'm wondering, has anyone here listened to both stations? I wonder like do they use the same jingles or share the same playlist?
Interesting, never had heard about WWLI in Providence. Haven't checked the RI board to see if there are any responses there yet. I've been listening to WWLI's online stream, but so far, 2 (really bad) songs back to back without any jingles or talk. That was followed by a recorded sponsor liner, which did not include jingles, going into a third song.
Who was first? According to the FCC website, WWLI has used those calls since 1985, while WLTI didn't become WLTI until 1996. Usually the call letters go with the format, so I'd assume WWLI has been doing AC longer.
If memory serves me right, WLTI was originally just "Lite 105.9" and only added "Rock" to the title in the past few years. Perhaps to separate itself from WLZW in Utica, which has been "Lite 98.7" since late 1989. (Notice how both try to mimic the call letters of New York's WLTW, even though they've never been owned by the same company. Anyway, I digress...) Or maybe WLTI added the "Rock" so that it could use the same jingles and logo as the Providence station. There's no question, if you're going to pay for a logo or jingles for one station, you'll save money by using the same thing (or very similar) for additional properties.
Update: dead segue into a 4th song, then Art came on live briefly announce a dedication into some Whitney Houston song.
I've had enough. I'm sure there'll eventually be a jingle whenever he does the weather, but I can't tolerate sitting through any more of these snoozer songs to find out.
