I worked at 1080 when it was WEEP back in the day. At that time, at least, they had a very low power pre-and post-sunrise authorization,10 watts if I recall correctly. The towers are in Gibsonia, so if you are north of the city it probably sounded pretty good today.

WWNL

Presunrise starts at 6 am Local time, they were on at 5:53 . In June you can go full power at 5:45 am. In the 1990's Mike Horvath then Cheif Engineer told me 1080 had a 10 watt nighttime Authorization but chose not to use it.

Pre-Sunrise WEEP

In the 70's, WEEP had an STA with four power levels. It started with 56 watts pre-sunrise predicated on average sunrise
of WTIC in Hartford, CT. This was followed by 1000, 25000 and finally 50000 watts.

In the mid 1980's it was the Oldies Channel, I worked in Oakland/ Bloomfield area when leaving for work at 6AM the Signal from North Park to their (on my Delco car radio) was Strong. 1080 also has a PSSA ( post sunset Authorization).I left work after Dark and could listen all the way back home.

The funny thing was that the PSSA could not be heard in the downtown studios from the air monitor, we had to listen via a phone line from the mod monitor....
