WWNO announces programming plans for digital signal

WWNO 89.9 will start streaming via the web later this week, a mix of news, information, and late night jazz that is planned to go live via the radio stations IBOC digital stream later on in the fall.

Features for this new stream are to include BBC's "world news hour" and NPR's "Talk of the nation"

So far, no word however if HD is in store for sister station KTLN Thibodaux which rebroadcasts WWNO.

anyone know how far the digital signal travels? i have heard you can only get the digital signal within 30 miles of the transmitter. is that true?<P ID="signature">______________

What I've heard is, it depends upon the power of the actual transmitter as some will get out furthur than others and not a set distance. The one test I did see was with WOR Am New York and I beleive it stayed in about the same distance as their stereo pilot carried (So my guess would be at least 55 db/u signal area)
