WWOD 1973 Airchecks & Photos on the Web!!

I finally completed postings of what I have on a sub web page on my site. In addition, there are some photos taken in 2007 of what remains of the WWOD Studios at 2020 Mimosa Drive in Lynchburg (very sad). These 2007 photos were taken by DJ Mad Lad in Lynchburg and shared with me to put on the web. Thanks DJ Mad.

I also talked to an ex-OD radio guy, Phil, last night. We shared some great memories.

The aircheck are from 1973 and the one of myself (very bad talent) has the news and commercials un-scoped. Give you a feeling of Lynchburg at the time. Unfortunately, some of the 1973 photos are not great, but you can still see alot.

Also an airch of Bob Davis on WBRG, country competitor to WWOD in Feb 1973.

The WWOD airchecks from July, were a part of a composite tape the PD prepared for Bahakle. Near the bottom, you will hear WWOD program director, Jay Douglas, do an audio letter to Bahakle corp office VP describing the goals for how he wants OD to sound and discribes the abilities of the Jocks.

The sub page is:

I have the main pages dedicated to Minneapolis/St. Paul radio and airchecks for the 60's and 70's.

Hope you OD radio fans remember and enjoy.

Thanks Rick! I checked out your web site and it had some really great pictures. I went to high school in Amherst with Lyn Nash...wonder what ever happened to him.

In April, 1971 my ACHS senior class went to New York City over a long weekend. On Thursday when we left, WWOD was playing what was called "Progressive Rock" now called classic rock. When we returned on Monday, it was country. Really bad country...at the time, WBRG was the best country station in Lynchburg.

The only rock available after the switch was on WLLL/WGOL (Top 40) and the strange mix at WLVA.
