This is on the front page of Radio-Info about the sale:
Radio Deals: A new Atlanta AM, and a future Wyoming FM
Taylor on Radio-Info reports that an FCC-approved interstate move for this AM daytimer leads to a $1 million sale by Art Sutton. He sells WWOF Walhalla, SC to New Life Broadcasting (Juan Carlos Matos Barreto and Ana G. Velez Montes). T-R-I told you on June 4 that Georgia-Carolina Radiocasting principal Sutton had successfully pulled off two long-distance moves of AM daytimers. One was WGHC, which he moved from Clayton, GA to the Charlotte area thanks to a now-ended FCC policy. The other is this one: WWOF is at 1000 KHz (with 1-kw) and is now cleared to move into the Atlanta market at a new frequency (890), a new power (5-kw) and a new city of license (Lithia Springs, GA). Georgia-Carolina retains country WGOG, Walhalla (96.3), and Tugart (that’s Sutton plus his Senior VP/COO Tug Carter) keeps nearby standards/talk WSNW, Seneca (1150) – which is scheduled to add some of WWOF’s current talk lineup. The broker on WWOF is Ted Gray for Tugart Properties LLC.
Near Casper, WY, radio vet Victor Michael is selling the construction permit for the future KGRK, Glenrock, WY to Ted and Jana Tucker. Ted has a company called Desert West Air Ranchers, but this deal is filed as Cochise Broadcasting, for $210,000. KGRK’s licensed as a Class A at 98.3 – but holds a construction permit to improve to a C0 (that’s C-Zero) at 98.1.
-------------------------------------
I have a couple of questions/observations:
1. I am assuming the new company is going to do religious programming???
2. I looked at radio-locator.com and it appears the CP is for two transmitter sites. One for daytime and one for critical hours. That is unusual to spend that kind of money for a critical hours transmitter site. Will they go through with it or will they look for a change to the CP?
