WWOZ in exile

Post below from WWOZ's guestbook. I have about thirty five tapes of my own shows that I'll be ripping as fast as possible for the cause. Any other 'OZ DJs, past or present, on this board?

WWOZ In Exile Stream Is Up

OK, David Freedman and I got the WWOZ In Exile stream up. You can listen to it via the start links at the WWOZ homepage. It's really basic right now, we whipped this early temporary version up in about 12 hours.

What I can really use now are tapes of actual WWOZ programming to augment and replace the MP3 song shuffling.

If there are any WWOZ listeners out there with recordings of WWOZ programming, please e-mail me at ken at wfmu dot org. MP3s would be best, but I could accept recordings in any format. I dont need song files, I have zillions of those, I need actual WWOZ airchecks. If you have tapes of OZ programs, and you have the ability to rip them to MP3s, that would be the best for me and would allow me to get them onto the WWOZ In Exile stream a LOT more quickly.

In other news: David Freedman is headed back to Louisiana today. He's in touch with OZ engineers and CPB people about immediate plans for getting back on the air. Technically, OZ could get some kind of FM signal back on the air in 4-5 weeks but it's a complex mess, with not just the FCC to answer to but also to FEMA and Homeland Security. So it remains to be seen how soon WWOZ can return an FM signal to New Orleans, but David is trying to do that as quickly as possible.
