WWRL changes morning shows

So I guess this means no more Richard Bey evening show. Will that 8-10pm slot revert to Air America or will another host come in?

Interesting that WWRL is Air America's NYC flagship. Yet it doesn't run Young Turks, AAR's morning show, or whatever they're doing after 8pm, or some of the weekend shows.

However, it does run the works show on the AAR line up... Rachel Maddow.

Don't get me wrong. I like Maddow as a commentator. But because she often has to be on the CNN or MSNBC set before 8pm, when her radio show ends, she PRE-TAPES it!

Can you imagine! A pre-taped TALK show! That's as interesting as a college lecture or watching paint dry.

Maddow has to confine herself to reading wire copy, having her producer read funny sports stories and time fillers like "Ask Dr. Maddow" where she explained to us once why cats purr. This while Mark Levin, in the same time slot, is saying outrageous things about liberals and getting giant ratings. And Michael Savage is chewing the furniture, nearly having a coronary about how the liberals are ruining America. Meanwhile Maddow is so unphased by this competition, that she's pretaping her show and leaving for the CNN or MSNBC make up room even before her show is off the air.

She even has the nerve to say she has a "live" interview with this or that lawmaker, when her entire show is pre-taped and she can't or won't take phone calls.

It's a shame AAR is struggling for its survival and Maddow, while a very good host otherwise, would rather pre-record her show and fill her two hours with nonsense than do a real show with real callers in real time.

It says a lot about what employees think of their network when they do things like that.

I'm pretty sure the Air America hosts know that the network is pretty irrelevant and they just do shows because 1) they enjoy doing it and 2) it's a paycheck.

I'm surprised AAR's program director doesn't put his foot down and tell Maddow that the radio show comes first.

I have no idea why they chose to go with Maddow. I would of kept Malloy or at least Sam Seder. Maddow seems to try to be like Keith Olbermann's show. She's not as good as Keith. Maybe they should just air MSNBC's Countdown in her slot?
