Possibly because CHR is really bad right now. I'm forced to listen "Star 102.1" at work for sometimes hours on end. It's horrible. Some woman screaming and moaning about "I don't want to do this anymore" is played every hour and it's enough to drive someone insane.

Perhaps when the CHR cycle rolls around and the music gets better, maybe Star's ratings will go up.

Hey guys,
I think the reason why CHR is failing is because some of us (speaking of just myself) are getting older. What was CHR in the 80's and 90's we thought was great. But now CHR Is all hip-hop and junk. The boy bands are trying to revive what careers they DIDN"T have and then there's political correctness. Oh well, what do I
know? Too bad Van Halen & U2 are getting old....

Van Halen and U2 were never "pure" CHR artists, they were AOR, but they charted well on CHR. It's just like how some of the less "i wanna kill your mother" Hip-Hop charts good on CHR now. CHR isn't the CHR of maddog's prime anymore. HAC is now CHR.

Thanks J-Street for clearing that up. Hot AC is ok but I can't stand the way these AC bands sound. The last time I was in Atlanta catch'n a Braves game, Star 94 was big then(CHR). Janet Jackson's "Runaway", just came out. Everything But the Girl-"Missing" was a cool song. Even Dave Matthew's "Crash Into Me" was not bad. They even played Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover" once in a while. All this was a little before the prepubesent arrival of the "boy bands". After that it all went to ****. Looking at Star 94's webpage and their ratings now, they're not what they used to be. People on the Atlanta page have said that. I guess CHR really
means "contemporary" nowadays.......ow! where's the Geritol?

I agree with you 100% maddog. I just meant that the HAC chart today is exactly like the CHR charts of the 1990's and even the 1980's. Anytime a song comes out by 90's bands Matchbox Twenty or Lifehouse or an 80's group like U2, it goes straight to the top of the HAC chart, but no longer the CHR chart. Here's a good question for ya. Have you seen the R&R website since Billboard took it over and destroyed it. Where do they get off considering Triple A a "rock" format?
