WWTM

So the move to Mooresville for 1400 WWTM was granted in May but now the plot thickens as just a couple of days ago an application for FM translator sumulcast on 97.3 W247AT Harvest was filed. This translator holds a construction permit to upgrade to 250 watts at 197 meters which would put a 60 dBu signal into all of Madison and mostly west Huntsville City. I wonder what the future plans are for this station. Tom I remember you speculating before about a possible simulcast with WWFA in the Shoals since their strange Legal ID debacle a while back saying "WWFA & WWFA-FM." They have sinced fixed that but the last I heard they still mention Huntsville in their legal but still do not have a signal in Huntsville. Not to mention the "Kiss FM" name is already taken in Huntsville too. Could this be the plan and a possible name change on the horizon for WWFA or is something else completely different in the works for WWTM? I'll be keeping an eye on things.

It's definitely worth keeping an eye on this, but I don't know if it's connected to WWFA or not.

One thing is for certain, there is definitely a concerted effort to build a Huntsville-wide broadcast out of this move. WWTM is being bought by Brantley Broadcast Associates, while Cameron Reynolds is buying the 97.3 and 96.5 translators to work as a multi-cast of WWTM. Brantley is basically the Reynolds' shell company, same as Great South Wireless and a dozen other names.

I agree. They are definitely trying to cover the most population in the Huntsville market as they can with this move, covering Decatur, Madison, and Huntsville with FM translators. WWTM is currently sports isn't it? Could they possibly be planning to keep sports and be the radio broadcast home to the new Baseball team coming to Madison? Just a thought, but its a decent possibility I think. Although I don't think this market has enough sports listeners to support 3 sports stations.

True, unless they plan a simulcast with WWTM and WZZN. That's a possibility since WZZN doesn't put city grade anywhere that the two WWTM translators for Huntsville and Decatur will. WZZN's 60 dBu only covers the southern part of the city, but the signal does come in better than the coverage maps show so who knows. I can pick them up well enough to get the RDS display all the way up at the state line. That's pretty good comparatively. I'm looking forward to seeing what the plan is for WWTM though!
