Talk radio is entertainment, not news. Knowingly disseminated false information isn’t protected by the First Amendment. Talk radio has gotten around getting in trouble for that by not being information. Phil Valentine was never news. A large portion of the talk radio audience, however, doesn’t seem to be aware of that. I don’t know how you overcome that.
Many in the talkradio audience think talk hosts are journalists. I've heard them say it...and I've also heard (or not heard) hosts correct them.

How do you overcome this problem? EASY! You have talkradio programmers who have an ounce of INTEGRITY and do not allow their hosts to spread TOTAL BULLSHIT on the air. If you have to lie and make shit up to get an audience to agree with you, then your argument is garbage and you should reassess your position. If you have to make shit up and lie to entertain people, then you suck as a host.

No host has free reign to do and say what they want on a radio station they do not own. Management has been complicit in this all along and maybe they need to pay a price for that since legal/financial liability is the ONLY thing they'll respond to.

The horse has left the barn on that. We've had talk show hosts saying seditionist things and dog-whistling for decades, and as long as they brought in the $$ no one put a stop to it. Even the conservatives I grew up around would have, at the time, found some of this stuff from the likes of Levin and Bongino appalling and unpatriotic. Now it's expected and if you dare moderate your tone, you're called a RINO and exiled (Walsh, Medved...)

I still don't understand why all the so-called RINO's don't turn that around and point out that the REAL RINO's are trump and his supporters! THEY are the ones who are calling themselves "Republicans", but who do not resemble a traditional Republican in the least.

Yes, RINOs include anyone who does not provide 100% fealty to Donald Trump, a lifelong Democrat.

What gr8 said. + They are scared of him. If Trump told his followers to run into the middle of a local interstate, and stand there 10s of millions would. Here is the most ironic part: Republican lawmakers- much like the tobacco industry has for a century- are KILLING OFF THEIR CONSTITUENTS for no reason other than to hold the party line.

Well Lindsey Graham and Donald Trump can say anything that's positive and helpful about COVID-19 vaccines but at this point we are dealing with governor's more radical than even Donald Trump was when he was in the White House.

Apparently the current strategy the governor's connected to Trump are going with is even more deadlier than we previously thought.

Out-trumping trump is a very dangerous proposition.

Well that already did happen and it was proven deadly as in the case of a Florida radio pundit who died from COVID-19 related complications and his own anti-vax rants about the COVID-19 vaccine got used against him in his grave. Yes its a case of a talk show host/ TV pundit whose rants were intended to make the Trump connected Governors and State Legislatures to not pass COVID-19 emergency orders, and Vaccine mandates for election reasons in 2022 instead got the host killed.

I heard of similar stories of city politicians getting killed by COVID-19 and their rants got used against them in death

Yes a city politician in Texas got killed from COVID-19 and his rants got used against him in death. You are right Out-trumping trump is deadly I just didn't think it was going to be killing the politicians and pundits themselves directly and used against them in the grave. I thought it was going to be like people in an anti-vax rally with the Governor would spark another insurrection that was going to be the dangerous and deadly move here initially.

Rep. David Byrd in Tennessee was in the hospital 8 months and needed a liver transplant after downplaying the virus and safety measures. He's now urging vaccines

The Program directors and GM's that do have integrity in news/talk radio on average work for NPR News/talk affiliates not traditional talk radio.
