What I hate is Covid-19 is politicized. It leads to other pandemics. There is a pandemic right now where both sides of the political fence are showing symptoms of obsession in tracking the going ons of the other side of the fence. The reality is as long as the opposing sides gives the other side validity by keeping it 'top of mind' the fuel to fan the flames remains. One has to question the symptom of trying to find more dirt on the other side to spread around among likeminded folks and to further criticize the other side. This only assures Covid-19 remains a political football where both sides wind up not dealing with all the facts. Once we can allow Covid-19 to be an illness not running for office, can we possibly join together to reach herd immunity.
Among the many I see in my radio sales job, some are not vaccinated. Not mentioned here or anywhere, it seems, these folks are quite healthy and are not actually likely to need acute care if they contract Covid-19. Just as many who fit this group have had the illness and rely on the anti-bodies and the body's memory defense. They understand they are 'rolling the dice' so to speak, but as one pointed out, they have about the same odds at a drunk driver or car accident killing them but they don't stop driving. I don't mention this for any other reason than assuming the accusations will fly: they have no issue wearing a mask and they're not anti-vax. They just think it is better to let their bodies fight off illnesses naturally which is why many of these folks don't get a flu shot each year. They are not all Republicans nor fans of Trump either. As we have learned, the problem is when the body attacks both the good white blood cells and those white blood cells Covid-19 has taken over. This happens in very few people but is more common in persons with other health issues. Having had Covid-19 myself, it was a nasty flu and I would be happy to live out the rest of my life without experiencing it again. That's why I got my vaccine as soon as I was allowed. Certainly consideration for the safety of others, taking precautions to safeguard those most at risk is just something anyone with decency would want to do. So,
when around a group, my mask goes on. I'm not worried about myself but rather to put those around me at ease. I prefer think beyond myself. Maybe we all need to do a bit more of that...no preaching, just thinking out loud.
