WWTX Afternoon local show

Had a chance to catch a few minutes of The Ticket's new local sports talk. Unlike the previous host, this guy sounds good. He's still learning the ropes, but good interview skills when talking with Harry Kalas. He did goof a bit when he showed lack of knowledge that the local guys did not broadcast the 1980 World Series, but Harry pulled him out of it nicely. Granted, talking with Harry is easy, but the guy is a marked improvement over what 1290 has had in the past.

I'd agree with your assessment. It's a decent show, way better than the previous host, and a refreshing change from all the political talk. Maybe Delaware Clear Channel would put up some billboards promoting the show as he'd probably could get a decent sized audience which might actually lead to his show having some spots rather than PSA's.

Clear Channel has posted lots of billboards for The Ticket in the past, more so than any other station in Delaware in recent history.
They are just the generic Clear Channel billboards that they use in every market. The one with the guys with the painted "1290"
on their chest? It's originally from Tampa. The girl holding the sign is wearing a Buccaneers uniform. I've seen it used in Orlando and
Miami, as well.

I think that the host doing well is great -- That said, he needs some time to build a fan base. Time that CC might not give him, considering the abysmal ratings of the station.

Those generic billboards haven't pulled in many listeners, so the 12+ numbers would indicate. My point was billboards promoting a local Wilmington sports talk show might pull in the desired male demo at least for those three hours weekday afternoons he's on the air. Apparently the Fox Sports Programming isn't cutting it.

1290 is also now airing high school football. Its nice to have another station besides WDEL paicking up the ball, so to speak. It was not too long ago that WAMS (1380), WDEL and WNRK all carried high school games on Friday night and Sautrday. In recent years it has been WDEL only.
