WWTX local sports talk show

I haven't tuned in to WWTX AM1290's local sports talk show in months. I was scanning the dial Friday and stopped there and noticed a new voice there. Rich L. (didn't get his last name) and Carmen (behind the glass) who apparently has a mic and is allowed to sort of be a "side kick" for Rich. These guys are on from 3pm-6pm. I listened till about 5pm. It wasn't half bad. They had several topics that were in play. They had a couple of phone interviews. They did have some callers to the show, probably not as many as they'd like, but they did get participation from the audience both via phone and online comments. Frankly, it was a nice change from political talk that is most talk radio be it conservative or liberal. I think I'll check them out again Monday and see how they sound with a second listen. Apparently Omar is no longer there at WWTX.

It is interesting that he left when the ratings came out showing no one was listening! Maybe he saw a change in format was in the future?

If that's the case, Omarr would have left right away...Has WWTX *ever* shown up in the ratings since their flip from WJBR-AM a few years ago? If they have, it's only been fractions of a point. I don't think the station has ever made a real impact on the ratings.

As for Omarr, it's only in the last couple of months that he was even listenable. As likeable of a guy as he was, his style was much better when doing the work for the Del State broadcasts a few years ago. He made an excellent choice in leaving WWTX, not just because The Ticket is sinking, but that he chose an area that will showcase his skills a lot more than a sports talk show host.

I will say nothing about Omar as a person. I would be certain he is a great guy. But his show was dung. I will wish him only the best, because he deserves it.
