WROR ad listed in New Hampshire (nhab.org)

Really?

THE LOREN & WALLY SHOW ON 105.7 WROR IN BOSTON HAS AN OPENING.

WOMEN -- WHAT KIND OF FRESH PERSPECTIVE CAN YOU BRING TO THIS HERITAGE MORNING SHOW?

OBVIOUSLY, YOU NEED TO GET UP EARLY, SO IF YOU'RE NOT A MORNING PERSON, DON'T BOTHER APPLYING. KATIE COURIC AND ALL OTHER WOMEN ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY.

CONTACT INFORMATION:

Ken West, Program Director

I'm guessing this is Sue Cope's former position. She recently left.

It is her position. The point is...

Shouldn't it say (as well): No Old Guys, Gays, Midgets, Black Gay Guys, Blondes,Ugly Women, Slants

This has nothing to do with EEO. If they were soliciting for someone to do production or sales or a general on-air gig they cannot put a gender preference in there. However, they are casting for a specific role on an entertainent show.

Like a Play or a TV Show or a MOVIE?

We're not talking political correctness, or lack of. We're talking common sense.

"LOREN & WALLY SHOW ON-AIR NEWS PERSONALITY" is what the heading reads.

So, you're saying that the Loren & Wally are racist bigots. I guess I just didn't connect those dots. You must be very insightful.

They're looking for an actress, someone to do what she is told, while being full of fake personality. Formulaic drek at its worst.

LOREN and WALLY didn't post the ad. A hiring member of management placed the ad.

Initially I thought it just read funny. It's not very well written. But really would Ken West have said:" Black guys, can you give a different perspective to our Morning Show..."

Maybe I'm crazy but it seems the reaction here is curious and very passionate.

I could be wrong all around.

No, I really don't think anyone associated with the hiring process at Greater Media is racist, a bigot, sexist or mean spirited.

I actually went to the website (www.eeoc.gov) and poked around.

Their policy page includes this:

Job Advertisements
It is illegal for an employer to publish a job advertisement that shows a preference for or discourages someone from applying for a job because of his or her race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.

For example, a help-wanted ad that seeks "females" or "recent college graduates" may discourage men and people over 40 from applying and may violate the law.

Notice the vague wording. MAY, meaning there are exceptions, and since radio certainly is entertainment, the first reality show, and there are cast members, I think the (program) DIRECTOR has some right to cast their show with the people they want for a certain part with no legal ramifications.

So the "Third" person in that Morning Show has to be a woman?

THAT sounds sexist both ways.

Ever done any work in a theatrical setting?

High school, college, community theater?

Men...playing WOMEN? omg!!!!!!!!!

This thread has taken on a touchy, personal side. I just thought the ad was a little goofy (poorly written) and "ify".

And who's to say those two old geezers need a chick to balance their old act? Young, talented black kid, ala Wayne Brady?

Anybody can be a live laugh track...

;D
