www.my957fm.com and www.957needshelp.com are live!

Hey, check out www.my957fm.com and www.957needshelp.com !

Clicking on the link at the bottom of the page brings up WRIT's streaming thing.

So, it looks like whatever stunt they have planned for WRIT may be imminent.

The plain-text-on-a-blue-background page says:
-----------------------------------------------------------

95-7 needs your help.

We are tired of building radio stations for you.

Now it is your turn to build your own radio station.

Email Us and tell us your five favorite songs.

Listen as we play those requests throughout the weekend.

We'll tabulate the weekend votes and unveil your new favorite radio station, the station you tell us you want on Tuesday.

Click Here to listen to our Internet stream.

Maybe CC is bringing the Movin format with Whoopi in the morning to Milwaukee. CC just got rid of the the Oldies station in Vegas yesterday for 93.1 The Party. It's the same format as Movin. ???

Is WRIT flipping soon? www.957needshelp.com is active.

Although I hadn't thought of that, considering the amount CC probably spent on Whoopi, and their probable need to clear her on as many stations as they could, that's definitely possible.

But, would Whoopi's show interfere with WKKV, the other CC urban station in Milwaukee?

Maybe they would instead do something to derail WKLH to help The Brew? I dunno what that would be, though.

Hey, what about Spanish? Nah, if it were gonna be Espanol, they wouldn't have bothered with the whole "957needshelp.com" thing.

Hmmmmm....

'MIL is the only mainstream Country station in Milwaukee. And when they did the whole "needshelp.com" stunt last time, I think, in Detroit, did that not also result in yet another country station there? Wasn't it with 106.7? And then it became Country. Sooooo...Maybe that's what they'll do with WRIT?

Come on, Rob

You think they'd go country to compete against THEMSELVES??

Clear Channel owns WMIL. Clear Channel doesn't own WYCD. Big difference.

Or maybe you are all overthinking this........

Oops, sorry, my bad.

Huh. Well, then I dunno what they'd do - Whoopi in the morning and then CHR the rest of the day to compete with Entercom?

Yeah, I think Whoopi + some flavor of AC the rest of the day is the call.

"My" is the name CC puts on many of their AC stations, so that would explain the my957fm.com.

They're stunting now.

Doing the 95.7 Needs Help thing.

According to AllAccess, this is what they played during the 10:00 hour:

"Turn the Beat Around" -- GLORIA ESTEFAN
"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" -- QUEEN
"All My Ex's Live in Texas" -- GEORGE STRAIT
"Mack the Knife" -- BOBBY DARIN
"How You Remind Me" -- NICKELBACK
"Smokey Mountain Rain" -- RONNIE MILSAP
"Come on Eileen" -- DEXY'S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS
"Summer of '69" -- BRYAN ADAMS
"She's Gone" -- HALL & OATES

Right now, they're playing (believe it or not) "Tear The Roof Off This Sucker" by P-Funk

Is CC really this desperate to dump oldies? Granted, WRIT wasn't great (way too mellow) but they were doing well (#6 overall in most recent ratings) with what loosely passed for oldies. They should have blown up The Brew. That station's sinking like a rock.

I wonder if they let all the staff go? Perhaps Luke would stick around as he does traffic for other CC stations. I wonder if any of them got to say goodbye and when this stunting started.

I tuned in at some point this morning, I wanna say it was about 9:45. And, they were playing that Bye Bye Miss American Pie song, and I thought - could this be it?

The morning show then did a break about relaxing over the weekend instead of doing yard work. At the end of the break, the girl on the show said the calls in strange way. It was something like "W R I" <long pause> "T." And I wondered if she did that because there were a bunch of people in there and she knew she'd just done her last break?

After a few minutes of commercials they were all up in that "95-7 needs help, make a request, blah blah blah" thing. So, I think that was when it happened.

One of the irritating things about many of these format flips is the (probable) insincerity of the owners.

Do they REALLY need our help? I doubt it.
Are they REALLY toting up listener votes to decide what to air this weekend? I doubt it.
Are they REALLY going to make the decision about what format they will be on Tuesday based on what listeners vote on line? I doubt it.

These guys know what they are going to do on Tuesday. This, "we're tired of building a station for you, you build it yourself" is (probably) crap.

Dear Clearwater People,
First off... I'm asking you to keep your d.j's comments to a MINIMUN!!!!!! They are NOT the enertainment...
THE MUSIC IS!!!!!!! Please use the station out of Chicago as a sample. (The Drive...I do not know the call
numbers because the station will not come in clear most of the time here).
Please stick with your 60's and 70's rock format...just make it with a little bit more "edge" to it.
Samples?
The Who....cuts from 1971's "Who's Next".
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Eddie Money
Journey
Bowie....cuts from "Alladin Sane" "Pin Ups" "Ziggy Stardust"
Badfinger
Fogelberg...cuts from 1979's "Pheonix"
early Billy Joel
early Elton John
America
Bread
Argent
keep the Beatles tunes coming!!!!
Mott The Hoople
Jethro Tull
Dave Clark Five
Paul Revere and the Raiders
early Eagles....cut off after 1979's "Long Run" album
Lou Reed

You guys were never that far off the MARK!!!!!!!
You have the right formula for success by appealling to the "baby boomers". Do NOT get
bogged down with Climax, Four Seasons, O.j. Smith, B.J. Thomas, the cover band who did "Hooked
On A Feeling".
No more BST.....GIVE US BTO....and I don't mean "Taking Care Of Business"....reach into their catalog and
play "Blue Collar", ''Blown", "Lookin Out For Number One".

Gordon Lightfoot would be great....you were playing that material!!!! Give us more that just his hits....
"Baby Step Back", "14K Gold"....anything off of Gord's Gold...volume one or two!!!!!!!

Climax Blues Band!!!! Not Climax!

WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER DAVE AND CAROL..... from 96.5!!!!!!!!!! They are the only people who laugh at their jokes!
If I hear the word "penis" or "boobs" one more time, I will sell my guitars and stop listening to the radio all
together....NO CHIT CHAT.....THE MUSIC IS THE REASON WE LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!

I have given you an honest view of what I'd like to hear.....you folks were in the right ballpark....just a little
to simple mided in your play list. Sugar, sugar????? Then I say, "Why, why"?!?!?!?!?!?!

Sincerely,

snappys50year-oldgrandfather

Hi ~
I'm responding to the 95.7needshelp thing.

Please, no more 4 seasons music!
What we need is a 60's and 70's station that plays stuff from those years that us 45-55 year-olds want to hear.
Examples:
Eagles (earlier stuff)
BEATLES .... not just the most played tracks on all ablums
Queen (early stuff)
Elton John(early stuff)
Dan Fogelberg
Gordon Lightfoot
Eddie Money
Heart
The Cars
Billy Joel (early stuff)

Your format is good already, it just needs to be tweeked.

I really enjoy listening to Michael and CV in the morning. I sure hope they are staying.
They are such a refeshing change from DAVE AND CAROL. I stopped listening to 96.5 many years ago in the am because of those two.
So please, just try to focus on 60's and 70's .... not only the over-played songs from that era.
Thanks,
Mary Czekalski

The problem with snappy's grandparents idea is that it's too classic rock (in a market saturated with classic rock), their concept sounds like a slightly more musically adventurous version of WKLH. There isn't room for a station like that in Milwaukee.
